F-R-E-E.

Hilarious...

See that donate icon at the top? I'd have no problem shooting the guy $10-$15 bucks IF my hardware was supported. I suppose you didn't send him a dime, smartass.

Here is how it is...

There is lots of different ways that analog capture cards work. I've implemented support for the few common types of cards I'd like support. The main analog devices I've implemented direct support for are the Hauppauge PVR cards, the ATI 550 cards, and recently the DVxplorer cards (Emuzed Maui etc). They are cards that I own, and can test against, and are generally well supported. These cards, particularly the Hauppauge PVR and ATI 550 cards, represent a significant percentage of the market (very common).

There are also many other cards that use these same capture chipset, and the drivers are derived from the same original reference drivers, and generally also work with GB-PVR, but the user may need to add some card specific settings to the direct.ini file. I dont typically provide as much support for these, because I'm not directly aware of what issues the user will encounter, and I'm not able to test them myself, but these devices usually will work.

Then there are cards that are from different families than those I support. These generally wont work with GB-PVR. Thats ok. Supporting all captures is not my goal. I'd just be creating a huge amount of work for myself, and making the app flakey by being too generic. I'd rather focus on smaller set of common cards and do it well, rather than a large number cards used by very few poeple, and only doing an average job.

The Avermedia 1500 MCE is not common. Its not a card I directly support. I'm not sure if it is a clone on one of these card, or some other family entirely.

The digital capture devices fair much better, because most of them support the common BDA driver standard.

You're right that these devices are probably very similiar, so it may not be a significant amount of work, but unfortunately its not something I can help you with. Sorry.

So, you don't support cards that you don't own?

Way a great way to promote your software. Hilarious.

Nice assumption. I've sent him more than your measly $15 AND spent plenty of time testing the pre-release versions. Hell, I even helped get support for the DViCO Fusion 5 ATSC card added.

Regardless, my point was that GBPVR is freeware which allows people like you to try it RISK-FREE. I can sympathise with your disappointment. Lack of support for the card you purchased is definitely frustrating but really, is that sub's fault? Something tells me you are the only one who thinks so.
