My GB-PVR-box (an Asus Pundit-R) is pretty quiet; but still too noisy to keep it on 24x7. To kill the noise and save on the power-bill, i think it would be great to
(a) make GB-PVR shut down (or hibernate) the machine after recording a show
(b) set the BIOS wake-on-alarm to start the machine a few minutes before recording a show.

I don't know much about C#; but willing to test stuff if anyone gives it a try to build [Image: smile.gif]

You can already do this.

Set you machine to auto shut down after x minutes of inactivity. GB-PVR will automatically wake the machine to preform any recordings, and will make sure it doesn't go to sleep again while the recording is in progress. X minutes after the recording completes, the system will automatically shut down.

I have a ASUS Pundit (not the R) but had varying succes with this feature when going into the off state (system shut down). With hibernation it works great! (But the hauppauge pvr350 tv-out is nog cooperating, but that seems to be ending soon ;-)

Sub - is there any way to have GB-PVR wake up the system to update the EPG as well? I put my computer in hibernate mode, it wakes up to record shows, but it never wakes up to update the EPG.

The next version will now automatically wake the machine for the EPG update.

Sub, in that case (which is a great feature) can you make it configurable (wake or not wake the system).

And it would be nice when you could add custom commands to the update process. Either by calling a batch file (if it exists) or otherwise.

Currently, if it finds a file called "UpdatedEPG.bat" it will execute it before performing the EPG update.

Where will it look for updateEPG.bat - in the xmltv-directory or in gbpvr, or somewhere else?

Not directly related but also about epg-configuration:
My epg/xml-file is on a (mapped) Network-drive. The automatic epg-update seems to have a problem with that, every morning it complains that it can't find the xml-file - but its there, if I run the update manually it finds the xml-file and no change of the epg/xml-path is necessary.

In the current directory.

Remember, the Recording Service runs as a different user, so its not able to see you mapped drives under your account. It works when you do it manually, because manually it runs as you. It may work if you use a UNC path to the xmltv file (e.g. \\server\share\listings.xml)
