This could be a radio button option in the config program.
If checked, then any time you started watching liveTV gbpvr would automatically start buffering and keep the last 30min of whatever you are watching. This would allow you to rewind and catch something you missed. Also, if you got 20 min into a show and decided you wanted to record it, you could get it from the beginning.
