Sorry for the newbie questions. I am trying to setup MyVideos to be able to burn recording mpeg files to dvd for viewing. I have downloaded everything required per the wiki. I am confused as to where to install everything that comes in myvideos.zip.

Also, after downloading and trying to run dvdauthorgui, i get the following error: component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid. I tried running from the icon it placed on the desktop after the install. Should dvdauthorgui run by itself?

Is using the MyVideos plugin the best way to get a recordings from mpeg to dvd?

thanks for the help

dvdauthorgui just comes with most of the tools you need to burn dvds, it shouldnt be a problem if it doesnt run itself.

nah the best way would be to use a program to edit out the commericals, then a really good dvd burner app. but my vids would be one of the quickest (you need to use the remote).

unzip myvideos.zip to the gbpvr directory (or perhaps the devnz directory, check the file structure in the zip).

you also need the mydatabase.zip file from the wiki, all of which is explained there.

So, everything in myvideos.zip gets extracted to the main gbpvr directory? Does the .dll go into the plugin directory? Does anything go into the skins directory? I already have mydatabase.mdb in the gbpvr directory. Thanks.

yeah the dll goes in the plugin directory, and the skin goes into the skin directory.

Alright. I will place myvideosplugin.dll and interop.dexterlib.dll in the plugin directory. There are 4 instances of skin.xml in the myvideo.zip zip to go to the skins directory?

I am curious about the better way to save to dvd. If comskip and comclean are run in the postprocessing.bat on a recording, is there can that file w/o commercials can be burned in a dvd app? Which app?

no the "interop.dexterlib.dll" goes into the gbpvr directory, just unzip it with winrar that should place everything into the right folder.

i have no idea, any app will give you more control, it would just take longer. you asked if my vids was the best way, it isnt, never will be. its just the easiest (once its all setup).
