I'm not exactly sure what the verbage is but I will do my best to describe the problem. I have a pvr-150 and it works great with wintv2k. When in GBPVR i notice that any OSD (volume, guide) causes the video to slow down and skip. I was told by someone that it was my computer but Wintv2k has no problem displaying the on screen volume control. Its almost like the MPEG2 decoding isn't working right. I have a ATI Radeon 7500 and according to ATI the video card has a built in MPEG2 decoder onchip.

I also noticed something else that is different between wintv and GBPVR. I use a remote administration program called Remote Administrator (http://www.radmin.com). When I connect to my GBPVR machine from my other computer when using GBPVR I am able to view the video that is currently on the screen. It looks very bad (due to the fact that it is scaled down to increase response time) but I can deffinately make out the picture. My understanding of MPEG2 is that It should only be able to be viewed on the computer (not through a remote viewer). When viewing wintv2k through remote admininstrator I just get a black window where the video should be. The same is true when viewing mpeg or divx movies over remote administrator.

This also reinforced my theory that my MPEG2 decoder isn't working right. Its like it converting it to some other type of video first. What is so different between wintv2k and GBPVR?

Is there a way to enable Hardware MPEG2 decoding?

Try setting the renderer to 'Overlay' instead of 'VMR' then try again.

Ok, I switched it from VMR9 to Overlay Manger. It seemed to make it worse.

BTW my PC Specs are:

1400 MHZ Athlon 266
Asus A7M266 Mboard
512 MB Ram
ATI Radeon 7500 (S-Video Out to tv)
Haapaugh PVR-150
SB Live 5.1

If you use the Intervideo decoder and Overlay, it should be exactly the same as WinTV2000, since it uses all the same components.

Overlay will just show a black window. VMR will try to show a picture.

I tried both Intervideo and Intervideo non-CSS and neither work. They are both worse than the VMR9. It doesn't make sense why WINTV2k and GBPVR would display differently. Also with overlay manager I notice that there is about a 5 second delay before the video starts after clicking "live tv" (with vmr9 there was about 1 to 2 seconds)

Any other ideas? Is there any way to tell it to use my Radeon card for hardware mpeg decoding? If there was a way would that fix the problem?

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach your gbpvr.exe-native.log file and I'll take a look. (with Overlay/Intervideo)

Can you try again with your video decoder set to 'InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder' then repost the log?

Lost is on right now. I will test it as soon as it is over. You didn't see anything in the log I sent? The intervideo and noncss Intervideo decoder look exactly the same from my end.

Also, when you do run it, try also explicitly setting the audio decoder to intervideo non-css one. It may get rid of your 5 second problem you commented on.
