Is there anything else I can do to help figure this out? Is there some way to force GBPVR to use the MPEG2 decoder integrated into my video card?

Looking at my Primary application (the one that came with my pvr 150) it shows that it is set to "Allow VMR" not overlay. Attached is my screen shot from the application. The question is what is Hauppauge doing differently that GBPVR. The volme OSD works perfect with WINTV. There isn't much else test with except volume control seeing as how thats all WintTV seems to have as far as OSDs go.
GBPVR seems to be extremely configurable via the xml file but I just don't know what things to change. GBPVR works much better than all the other PVR applications out there. There is just a few bugs I need to get worked out of my system. Any help you can give me would be very appreciated.

MisterTee Wrote:I also noticed something else that is different between wintv and GBPVR. I use a remote administration program called Remote Administrator (www.radmin.com). When I connect to my GBPVR machine from my other computer when using GBPVR I am able to view the video that is currently on the screen. It looks very bad (due to the fact that it is scaled down to increase response time) but I can deffinately make out the picture. Remote Admin, or VNC can not show overlay screens, only VMR.

Thanks HtV.
I simply want GBPVR to work the same way as WINTV. The strange thing is that my wintv is set to use VMR9 and when viewing the computer with radmin all I see is a black window. It doesn't seem to make since. Let me be clear....I don't really care about viewing video through radmin. I am just using this as a diagnostic tool to figure out why Wintv works well with OSD and GBPVR doesn't.

Just a bit more on radmin etc: On my system I have to choose "Force primary" for wintv2000, than it shows through vnc, thus it's using vmr than. If I choose Allow VMR it does not show in vnc so it must still be using overlay.
In config-misctab have you set live preview if possible and if youn have did you set de-interlace to pass through?

Quote:Is there some way to force GBPVR to use the MPEG2 decoder integrated into my video card?Unfortunately the hardware MPEG2 decoder on the ATI Radeon 7500 is more marketing that substance. This card contains some video accelleration features which can help the decoding process, but doesnt contain a full MPEG2 decoder. These features can be used by video decoders like the Cyberlink ones to slightly reduce the CPU usage during playback.

Just as a side note, I took a look at my task manager when the video skips were happening. While watching video my cpu is at about 47%. When I press the guide button the cpu jumps to 100%. When the video stops skipping the cpu drops back down to the normal levels.
Also I did try changing my video card out for a Gforce4 4600 and it had no affect.
