I bought a cheapo Ebay tuner the other day with a Philips 7130 chip in it. I noticed there is no support for it yet, but I was wondering if there was a way to "trick" the card into working. GB-PVR is the only decent PVR software I can find out there with support for my local program listings via Zap2It. Any help is appreciated.

I think there are bda drivers for it so might work. Perhaps someome can tell you how to edit the Gbpvr files as never done it myself!

Medion PC's use Tv Cards with Philips ChipSets

Take a look at my web site, it may help:
http://medion.adslweb.co.uk

There is a GB-PVR section.

Okay, i've tried the setup using your forum instructions, and when I go to attempt to map the digital channels I get a runtime error, and then a message saying that the card is unavailable. I cannot select my region, as I am located in Canada, am I just completely oblivious, can I not get GB-PVR to work with this card? I love the layout of it, and the fact that it's one of the only programs that can use Zap2It. I tried Snapstream's junk, and they don't even support my local channel listings. So anything with Zap2It is the way I have to go. Now if I could just get this card to work, I'll be laughin.

It's because your card is probably not a digital card you with have to look at the software encoder plug in or try some other software like got all media.

I've got a Easy TV MPEG PCI TV Tuner / Capture Card w/FM Radio which has the Philips SAA7130 Chipset in it as well. I just have regular cable and managed to get all the channels loaded in. I was also able to get to to figure out that my card was there but when I try to run the live TV it tells me that its not set up correctly. This is what I put in the direct file to get it to find my card.

[Easy TV MPEG]
INIT_MODE=DEFAULT
INIT_MSP=0
SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO=1
FILTER_TUNER=PhTVTune
FILTER_CAPTURE=713x TV Card Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

This is the first time I have ever tried to do anything like this so I have no clue if I am missing something from the entry or something. Anyone have any idea?

The Compro VideoMate DVB-T300 has a Philips chip. So far I've not got it working with GB-PVR just yet but at least one other person in these forums has done so.

The Compro is a analog/digital tuner so I'm not sure it will be the same chip as your card.

I do remember seeing the SAA prefix when trying to get it running under Ubuntu.

It could well be the same chip and you might therefore be able to hack it into behaving with Compro drivers. That's if the Compro drivers will even install without detecting a Compro device in your machine.

Yeh, also thank that herbs person. They're the one that told me about it. I haven't used anything else since.
