Sometimes show names contain characters that should not be used in Windows file names, such as a series of periods.

"Wetten, dass .." for example is a popular German TV show that cannot be recorded. GB-PVR tries to create the file, which fails.

It should preprocess all file names and strip invalid characters.

You should be able to have series of periods. These arnt invalid characters.
