Try detect method 45 so no logo detection, or 41 to also remove scene change detection.

This will make the life of comskip more difficult but it may work.

I'll give it a shot.

stattik,

What changes to the hdtv profile do I need to make to create an mpg file instead of xvid?

Thanks,
Greg

If you just want to remove the commercials, you would use the config I posted earlier:

Code:
start /low /wait %mencoder_path% "%~dpn1_original.mpg" -edl "%~dpn1.edl" -oac copy -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd -vf pullup,softskip -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=%mpegbitrate%:keyint=18 %test% -o "%~dpn1.mpg"

If you want to change the resolution as well or make the file much smaller, that would be something different.

I haven't tried this so I'd run it in test mode to verify it works as intended.

Just wanted to let you know, I watched the video start to finish and it's pretty clean, no jerky motions from what I can see. So thanks the script works well.

Only problem is the comskip, which did run when I removed the rem in your script, except it didnt remove the commercials and instead removed part of the show Smile I'm trying to record something off the Fairchild (Chinese) Station, so I guess I'll need to try some comskip tweaking before it works.

Thanks again for the great script, looking forward to the addition of final size according to initial mpeg file size portion. Thanks

I realy would like to receive some chinese material.

Would it be possible to follow the procedure outline at the link below and to send me the results by mail

Hi Erik,

Sure thing, I can definitely do that tonight when I get home from work tonight. Thanks for the great comskip program.

i'd like to second the request for info on how to set up DirMon2 to work with this, as the settings used for DirMon don't seem to transfer over exactly (actualy, they don't seem to transfer over at all!). or if someone could direct me to where i can download a copy of DirMon (it's apparently no longer available from Dragon Global), i'd appreciate it...

Dirmon IS downloadable (now?) - I just downloaded it from the link on post #1 of this thread.

I think he's referring to the original version of Dirmon. The link points to the current version of dirmon2.

I'll take a look at Dirmon2 when I get a chance, currently I'm trying to get the next verion of the script out.
