error 1720 on install

When i click the last continue before the installation should begin i get the error 1720. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A cript required to complete the installation could not be run. Please contact you software vendor.

I have verified that i have IE6 as suggested by another post.

config is:

Win xp sp2
ie6
.net framework 1.1 with all patches

The software installs great on my notebook. I just hope i can get it to run on my media PC

You could try googling to find how to turn on installation logging using MSIEXEC. This will produce a log file during the installation which should contain some clues of whats failing.

I dont really know what that error means, but the ErrorIcon referred to is not one of mine. It probably just something internal to the setup software. You've downloaded the same single installation file as 10000 other people in the last week - I doubt its missing any files or I would have heard a lot more about it.

Maybe you archive is somehow corrupt. Try deleting it and download it again. If you've already got a "c:\program files\devnz" directory, it may be worth deleting it.

Definatley agree that you would have heard more if the issue was with the packaging. The product looks fantastice on my notebook where i installed just to verify the MSI was not corrupt. I have installed all patches for framework 1.0 and 1.1 plus the j# 1.1 . If you have any other ideas it would be great. The system is only about a month old so i imagine that it is something that is missing from my system

I found this if it means anything to anyone about what i would need to update on my system to get the installer to run. This was in relation the the error 1720

"The installer runs script custom actions directly and does not use the Windows Script Host. The WScript object cannot be used inside a script custom action because this object is provided by the Windows Script Host. Objects in the Windows Script Host object model can only be used in custom actions if Windows Script Host is installed on the computer by creating new instances of the object, with a call to CreateObject, and providing the ProgId of the object (for example "WScript.Shell&quot. Depending on the type of script custom action, access to some objects and methods of the Windows Script Host object model may be denied for security reasons."

The program worked fine a month ago, but I deleted it and now I want to install it again and I get the error too. I have already deleted the directory and some register keys, but with no result. Please help me.

I've found the solution!!!!

First you have to install 'Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP' from the Microsoft site and than it works fine.
