First let me say that GBPVR is really, really awesome. The commercial skip works flawlessly, the recordings look great, and the customization features are sweet as hell.

That said, I'm having a hard time getting anything to work that's supposed to be automated. The downloading of the program guide doesn't do its magic in the middle of the night like it should, but updates just fine when I run it automatically. Also, the re-encoding of recordings into DivX/Xvid/WMV doesn't work at all. No error message or anything... it just sort of ignores that I asked it to do it.

The settings all look right in my Configuration. Any ideas?

Do you use xmltv or zap2it? GBPVR doesn't download the xmltv file automatically, you need to do that some other way. I do it via a windows task.

I use zap2it for my TV listings. It doesn't download or install the listings automatically, nor does it convert to WMV, DivX, or Xvid. The computer is an XP machine which is set to never sleep, always be on, and always be hooked up to the 'net. Any ideas?

No, I don't use zap2it or converting. Have you checked the logs for any hints?

There is no error log for the converting. Where would I look for the error log for the zap2it download?

Hm... just thought of something... have you set it to download at 3 a.m.? I think I remember reading something about zap2it having problems with too many people downloading at the same time... try setting it to download some other time, like in the afternoon or so. Maybe that will help.

I am also having problems with getting the re-encoding to happen automatically.. it just seems to ignore it, no logs or anything.

The updating of my xmltv stuff seems to work fine (I automate bladerunner to get the files using windows scheduling, and according to the logs gb-pvr picked up these changes at 3am like it supposed to)

xmltv is not affected by zap2it's problems.

Regarding the re-encoding, reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your logs and I'll take a look. Key log files are GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and GBPVRConvert.exe-native.log

For some reason, re-encoding is now working. I didn't change a darn thing, but its been regularly converting to WMV for a few days now. I'm going to switch it over to DivX and see if it works as well. I don't have immediate plans to move video off my GBPVR box, but if I do in the future, DivX will work better for me.

However, it still isn't updating my TV listings. I've switched to various times of the day, and still nothin'. I'm looking at the GBPVR.exe.log, but it doesn't tell me a thing. There's not even an entry for the times I choose to download the listings. I've logged into my Zap2It account and all is well, and manually updating the guide works fine.

Any ideas here?
