I have successfully configured xDVD, and it is working great, but it is not playing loud even if you turn up the volume of MVP to the max and TV's volume to 3/4.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Hey,

This usually happens when you transcode your audio from 5.1 to 2-channel stereo. I have been doing a lot of transcoding myself, and I find that when I transcode from 5.1 I increase the volume of the sound by about 20%.... That seems to do the trick.

I think we should ask Jorm to have a look at this..

Do you change the settings in transcoding batch file or you change the TV's volume?

I have up the tv volume to 3/4 of its available range, and then I can hear half way decent.

But the same DVD's ISO plays fine in regular DVD player if you burn it.

I change the setting in the transcoding batch-file.... (I have a seperate batch-file I use for transcoding, and it detects the 5.1 audio and boosts the volume).

I am using mencoder however, so my settings won't work with VLC. I think you should check the VLC documentation to see how (and if) you can boost the volume....

we were playing with mencoder as well as vlc. Mencoder allows you to force the sound up all the way. Vlc does not support it. We will probably bundle both settings mencoder and vlc into it in a future release.

Thanks for the response. I am going to look into VLC to see if there is anyway to boost the volume up.

Ton, do you use xDVD at all or you are doing transcoding to MPEG using mencoder?

I will try that this weekend, and see how it will work. I have been reading about mEncoder for little bit, and see what may turn up.

I've been trying to find mencoder batch files for transcoding the VOBs on my HDD from within xDVD rather than using VLC. I can't find any, however. Can you share the modified batch files?
