ok, I've been trolling here for about 2 weeks trying to figure out what's wrong on my system. I found several threads on xdvd including the one for the patch but my systems still not playing dvd's.

I Got a MediaMVP and gbpvr. I can get it to play mp3, mpeg, and pics no problem. Now, I'm trying to get it to play dvd's. From what i've read here, i install xdvd plugin, daemon tools, and vlc.

for xdvd, I go to gbpvr\skins\blue\xdvd and modify settings.xml to reflect the daemontool virtual cd. here's settings

<settings>
<TempFile>c:\dvd.mpg</TempFile>
<PlayMode mode="SIZE" value="150"/>
<DVDDrive>e</DVDDrive>
<BaseFileDirectory>c:\</BaseFileDirectory>
<MountDVDDrive>f</MountDVDDrive>
<ForceMvpMode>true</ForceMvpMode>
</settings

Pretty much standard. 1 real dvd player is "e", virtual dvd is "f". Installed the db patch in \plugins.

System has 3 dvd players + daemontool and 2 usb external hard drives.

I'm trying to get the dvd files on the usb hard drive to play, but no go. I can see the directories, and navigate into folder where it says "movie.dvd" and i try to play it. then, gbpvr hangs.

I setup another computer, same way and it seems to work fine.

I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here. Is it the usb drive? maybe i can't put the dvd files on a usb drive?

appreciate any help out there.

It might be a problem of where you are navigating. See this post from this thread.

thanks for the suggestion.

I tried that and nothing happens. I can still navigate into the folder. I don't see the vob's, I see an entry that says "movie.dvd", which I think it's just interpreting as the VIDEO_TS folder.

Perhaps it's a conflict in some of my other installed programs or codecs? (Not an expert so I'm not sure if I'm using the right terminology.

I've got Divx, WMP old version, Nero's dvd player, and a bunch of other players that came with burning software, WinDVD, PowerDVD, ...

:confused:

I'll try that as soon as I get home!

The other one I setup is working and it didn't have as many dvd/cd players. hopefully that's it.

And no, I didn't see a dvd.mpg being created.

I'll update tonight...

Thanks!

Well, I checked the batch file called playmvpdvdiso.bat. It looks like the path was incorrect "d-tools" instead of "DAEMON Tools". I corrected it, but it still didn't work. I suspect that this is only used if I try to play an .iso file. The other 2 files, playmvpdvd.bat and playmvpdvdfiles.bat, I assume are for playing a dvd in dvd drive and dvd files, respectively. So, most likely, the file I'd need to check is playmvpdvdfiles.bat. It looked fine to me.

So, I'm still stuck Sad. I don't know what could be causing my problem - conflict somewhere?

Perhaps I need to reinstall Daemon Tools and VLC? I guess it couldn't hurt.

I had success playing DVD files located on the HDD when I changed dvd://%2@%3 to dvdsimple://%2@%3 in the batch file.

Thanks for suggestion.

My batch file was already at dvdsimple. I tried putting it at dvd only (just to see what would happen), still no go.

I'm beginning to think it's a conflict somewhere. I uninstalled divx. perhaps i should try to remove other programs?

Are there any patches that I might be missing? Other than the sq db one? Anything for gbpvr?

hmmm, I did a file search and no I don't seem to have the dshow.dll. Where is that file supposed to be? Where does it get installed? System or part of gbpvr?

And no, it doesn't work on pc either.
