Sub, thanks for mentioning the Cyberlink registry settings in this thread. As much time as I spend on these boards and tweaking my installation, I don't know how I missed this. I wondered why the mini-guide didn't work for me. I have a question though.
Do I understand correctly that even if you have enabled VMR 9 in config, without this reg setting the Cyberlink decoders were switching to Overlay mode?
Personally, I found adding the hardware setting, UIUseHVA, and the EnableVMR setting helped quite a bit (I think it's just the UIUseHVA that made the difference), but when I used EnableVMR9, playback suffered tremendously. I guess that means my system doesn't have enough horsepower for VMR9?
Looking at the wiki for some more information about VMR I noticed another tidbit I'd missed. It says that neither VMR 7 or 9 are supported in Windows 2k... but this isn't right, is it? If so, then why does the EnableVMR9 setting have any impact on my system if all my system can do is Overlay anyway? Assuming the wiki is inaccurate, and I've found other info on the web that contradicts it, without the EnableVMR9 setting, but with EnableVMR does that mean my system is really using VMR7? And if so, besides the Mini-guide is there anything I'm losing between VMR7 and VMR9?
I'd be happy to update the wiki page to explain differences between the two in GB-PVR, but I'd have to know what they are first.
