Hi -

I've got an old STB TV Tuner card in a Win2K box that I am trying to get to work with GBPVR. The drivers I'm using are generic to the cards tv tuner chipset (got them off the net), they support it as a Conexant Bt828 chipset and I just don't know what settings to use. There is a Conexant Blackbird option but it says that there is no driver installed for it. What should I choose?

Also, whats up with all the acronyms? I can't tell what anything is. Such as

DVB EPG Broadcast

BDA Recording plugin

BDA Devices

Also, do I have to have a channel changer? Is that just for a remote control?

Thanks for any help.

I'll answer what I can.

DVB EPG broadcast: DVB is digital tv (don't know the exact meaning of the acronym). EPG means Electronic Program Guide. Some (all?) digital broadcasters broadcast info about all the shows, so that you can find out when a show is airing. Usually the set top box would handle this and present it to you on the tv. GBPVR can handle this, too.

Channel Changer: This is if you have a set top box. If you want gbpvr to change channels on the STB, then you would need some sort of channel changer. There are a few ways of doing this. Either you can use a serial cable, if your box has a serial interface, and supports changing channels this way. Many boxes has a serial interface. Not many boxes allows you to change channels that way, though. Most people use an ir transmitter to make gbpvr change channels on the set top box. The most common ones are the one included with the hauppauge 150, and the USB-UIRT.
I'm not always right

This device is not supported. You might be able to get it working with the plugin from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753, but realistically you'd need a supported card like the Hauppauge PVR150 if you want to be sure things will work, or if you need support.

I never claimed software was for beginners. Infact, if you dont know what many of the acronyms stand for, this is probably not the software for you. These arent acronyms I've made up.

These are standard terms used for these items. If I had specified the full names for these items, people wouldnt know what I was talking about.
