I've been having problems for some time now. If I try to record a scheduled recording from the TV guide the play back, whether using GBPVR or Media player is jerky. If I record on the fly using the record button in live tv evrything works fine. I've totally wiped my harddrive and reloaded XP. Downloaded all the latest drivers for my motherboard, PVR350 and .NET. Instlalled and configured the latest GBPVR and I get the same thing. I'm not running any other software. I'm told the method for recording live tv and scheduled recordings is the same but something has to be different. Maybe the recording method is the same, but maybe the recording service calls an additional process thats interfering. I don't think it's a hardware problem because it works with live tv and the Hauppauge software. Timeshifting seems to work fine as well.

Can someone point me in the right direction? There must be a setting someplace or something the recording does different for scheduled recordings. It kind of defeats the main purpose of having the PVR if I can't play scheduled recording.

The only difference I can think of is the bitrate, and in timeshift mode it uses the GB-PVR Parser instead of the Microsoft one.

Can you produce GBPVR.exe-native.log files showing both timeshift mode and playing back a recording?

I assume I can do this by both recording a scheduled program and then afterward play live tv and record a portion of that program all in the same session? Then send you the file?

The logs are over written each time you start GBPVR.exe. This log just shows the one second or so of starting GB-PVR. Can you try again?

Here it is. I recorded a short segment using the TV guide and it is jerky. Then I went to live tv and recorded directly. This plays back fine.

ah...PVR350 tv out...

So given both the PVR350s hardware decoder, and Media Player's software decoder have the same problem, you're correct that it must be something wrong with the recording part of the process.

There really is nothing different about the recording in timeshift mode vs a normal recording, other than the bitrate. They share all the same code. Timeshift mode is effectively just playing a recording, whilst the recording is still in progress. All I can suggest is make sure your disk isnt fragmented, or possibly try a different version of the Hauppauge driver. I know thats not particularly helpful. Sorry.

Well I think I found something. I normally adjust the audio quality down to 128kb as well as the video bit rates to save space. I can't see a lot of difference so this normally works. However with the audio set to 128 kb it stutters. If I set it back to 224 it works fine. Changing the video bit rate doesn't seem to cause a problem. The default low, med high setting seem to work. So there is some kind of incompatibility between the 350 and audio bit rate settings. I'll have to experiment a little bit but I think this is basically resolved. Thanks for pointing me to the problem.
