Live TV works fine. I watch something, then hit either Stop or Exit/Menu on the Hauppauge remote to go back to the main menu. I can go back into Live TV and watch any recordings I already have just fine.

The problem is that after I watch Live TV, every single recording I have scheduled fails until I manually restart the GB-PVR Recording Service. After I restart the service recordings start working again, until the next time I watch Live TV...

I'm currently using 0.21.4, but I've seen this problem for the last two or three versions. (I don't think 0.18 had it.)

I am also using Win2K and a WinPVR 250 if that helps.

I see the same thing and I believe others do too.

I think Sub would like log files from those of us that encounter this problem. I belive its best to zip up all log files from your GBPVR install directory and send them to support@devnz.com.

I hope to create the problem tonight, generate some log files and send them off.

Ok, I've just checked this on my test machine and I definitely dont have this problem, but if its reproducible it should be easy to fix.

As huckw says, I'll need to get some logs.

- Stop GB-PVR and the recording service.
- Delete all the log file in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr
- Start the recording service
- Start GB-PVR
- Perform the steps to reproduce the problem
- Email your logs to me at support@devnz.com

Just out of curiosity, are you using an MVP?

I'll check this out as well, I've seen similar issues with things not being recorded but had not yet identified a common reason. It could well be the same thing.

I also have an MVP.

Sub,

I've seen this as well. Maybe it's related to my runaway recording problem. Maybe LiveTV is not releasing the tuner and when the recording needs to start, there is no tuner available. Just a guess. But I have had the problem a number of times.

No, I am not using an MVP, just a PC with a WinPVR250 and a cheap video card w/composite out going to my TV set.

I will try to get some logs together this weekend, however I will be quite busy the next couple of days so it may be Sunday or Monday before I can get them.

At first I thought it was a problem with the service hanging, but if that were the case I wouldn't be able to go back and watch Live TV again without restarting the service. I suspect it's like Bryan described... the service is locking the tuner for Live TV use and is holding onto it even after hitting Stop.

I would say that most of the time I start it from the TV Guide, but not always. I would also do a few channels changes, most of the time using the mini guide.

One question on logs: As an example (totally unrelated to GBPVR), I have seen Microsoft errors come up and a screen asks you if you want to send a report to Microsoft. Would it be possible or practical for you to do something that in GBPVR?

It wouldn't help with most types of error. In this case GB-PVR obviously still thinks everything is ok, so wouldnt think there was anything to report.
