What do you want in a skin theme?

You may have noticed that to date, my skins tend to have a high WAF. This comes from knowledge gained by 30+ years of marital experience, and occasional exasperation.

I currently have enough space left on my small web site for one more theme and I feel in need of a change.

So, what do you want?

In a skin theme. That’s the look, not the functionality. The skin will be based on the current capabilities of GBPVR, please don’t ask for new features. Do that elsewhere.

Let me hear you.

P.S. I do clean and simple so you probably shouldn't expect alot of fancy bells and whistles.

LOL - hey, forget the skins, after 3 years of 'bliss' I just need advice on upping my WAF in general!!!

Like the skins btw - clean, simple, elegant Smile

My wife likes scenes, pretty things, loads of colour, buttons that "pop" out at you.
Bliss Royale is currently her favourite, but as a woman, she changes her mind quite often too Wink
Stock Blue is a definite no, but blues and greens seem to be the preferential colours. Red is out. Grey is blah, brown is worse.

I was thinking of working on a skin, but probably never will. I wanted a retro hitech look, and was thinking of using the movie TRON as a basis. If not actual graphics from it, I like the way they did the glowing effect. I forget the process name right now...

Simple is best for me. I agree the blues and greens seem the best colors. The MVP doesn't handle the really bright colors well and if it's too bright it only serves as a distraction in a darker room. I only use it on the MVP so everything made larger is a real plus. I've spent some time modifying, mostly on the FBHV skin to make some of the panels able to use larger fonts to be able to read from across the room.

It needs to be intuitive to use to keep WAF high.

I like the space to be well utilized, I favour information before background. I guess the trick is the balance...

I think a nice Star Trek TNG computer console screen would be a good idea.

I think there is/was a LCARS skin out there.

I'm new to gbpvr and don't even have everything up and running yet, however I seem to remember the standard skin utilizes very little of the available space on a wide screen LCD, right? I'm running it at 1366x768.
As more and more households have wide screen TV's, a skin for these would be great.
Really large fonts are a pre-requisite, too, as my TV is quite far away.

cheers,
Frank

Thanks for the info. I downloaded it as soon as I read your email.

Unfortunaly it looks very bad on the TV through the PVR-350 card. Not realy readable. Plus it's geometry is noticably off. Likely this was only ment for a pc monitor and I'm sure it may look fine there.

Anyway. Thanks again for the info.
