You can generate Language.XMLs from the Excel sheet, in all Languages, including Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

Use the Excel Sheet - GBPVR Translations.zip
The purpose of the Excel sheet is to make it easier to create new translations and modify/update existing translation.
* Take a look at Excel sheet to see status of " text strings". Red text means not edited and is a machine translation. Blue text means edited/OK. If you are about to translate, add or change translation, use the Excel sheet or the English XML.
* After you have finished you translation, place the cursor on a translated cell, then run the Macro (ANSI for western countries, Unicode for other countries) and generate you own Language.XML file into GBPVR folder.
* Restart GBPVR to see your translation.
* Share your translation by posting the Excel sheet with your translation in this tread.
* I will include your translation in next GBPVR Translation "release"

How the Language Plugin Works
This “Language Plugin” will extract all Language.XML files into a GBPVR/Language folder.
After extraction a Language Selector will be launched.
Selected Language will be copied to the GBPVR folder with the name Language.XML
Restart GBPVR for translation to take place in the GUI.

Thanks to Christian Wattengård, we now have a Norwegian translation in the LanguagePlugin.ZIP
Also updated all XMLs with 2 new strings found in NetRadio.
In the MyPlugins.zip there is an Excel sheet with strings for the My * plugins.
Please Reven and all other plugin developers....make a language.xml with all the strings avaliable with the plugin that you develope.

Thanks

The translations (LanguagePlugin) have been out there for a while now. The Spanish, Italian and Dutch translation would need some updates. They just cover half of the text strings. I haven't heard from anyone using any translation. Are almost all GBPVR users from English speaking countries ?
Please send a message if you are from a non-English country.....and tell me wath you think about the Excel translation idea ? I would like to see all text in blue in the Excel sheet....so come on....add some translations.
Is anyone from Portugal or Poland using GBPVR ?

I will take a look at the dutch translation. Do you like me to just translate the terms in the excel sheets and make a dutch.xls sheet? Do I understand that correctly?

Hi MaBo

Just edit the translation in the Excel sheet. Then make it avaliable for download somewhere. I will generate new XMLs from the Excel sheet.

....and thanks for showing interest.

Hi there MixMan,

I (for one) have been using your excel sheet. By the way the lange selector failed. But no worry, I coppied the dutch xml manually.

I was planning to complete the dutch translations, but didn't understand how you want it delivered. MaBo had the same question. So it seems I don't have to do anything (thanks you both!!!).

I'm goanna ask anyway:

If I understand correctly, I can change the translation on the ALL TRANSLATIONS page in the Excel sheet and send it to you (how do you know which where changed?)

What do you mean by 'you can add new string on the different language pages' ? (on the readme page of the excel sheet). Is that for new plugins with new sentences that need to be translated? Or is it for the existing translations of for instance a machine translation? (in other words I should never change the ALL TRANSLATIONS page, on the readme page page it says I just shouldn't mess with the order of things)

I was also wandering about the macro question. You want a macro for creating the XML. But I also read you could not export the excelsheet to XML for some languages. So you can already do it for the the others? I think it would be fun to create the macro (well that is, to try to create it), but I don't have much time and I am not sure if/why you need it.

Hi, nice to hear that you would like to update the Excel sheet

This is how I would like it to be done.

1. Open the Excel document and sheet "All Translations"

2. Find the column "Dutch"

3. Edit/translate text strings that have the color red. (Blue color means that someone have translated that text already.)

4. Save the Excels document and make it avaliable for me to download.

What I then do is, via Access save the Excel sheet as a DIF (Data Interchange Format) file and then import the DIF file to a report tool and generate Language.XML files.

Windows can handle ANSI type characters if I change the language in Windows. So I can generate all "western" languages, eastern european, greek, russian and some other languages.
But I have problems with "strange character" languages. UTF-8 encoding is the best to use for them. Even though Hebrew and Arabic should be supported by ANSI in Windows. I can not select those languages in the control panel - national settings, so I can not generate them. Otherwise it would be possible for me to genererate Hebrew and Arabic to.

Hope you got an understandable explanation

I think it would be nice to have a macro that could create a complete Language.XML file directly from that Excel file, then you could immediatly test your modifications in Excel, without my "Excel export to DIF and import to report tool and generate XML".

Cheers
