Hi Forum,

I have successfully added the MVP Screen position tool to my plugin list, but when I find the screen size and make the changes to the plugin setting section nothing changes on my TV screen is this plugin suppose to do something or just tell you what the screen is suppose to do?

Thanks in advance for any help,

You have to manually transfer values back to your GBPVR machine. The easiest way to do it is reset everything first to the default width, height, x, y position

Width : 640
Height: 480
X Pos : 0
Y Pos : 0

This will give you an oversize screen on the MVP. Since everything is at it's default, use the plug-in to get the correct settings for you. I move the yellow box up and down, left and right with the arrow keys on the remote. Take note of the left-hand corner of the yellow box, position it to desired area. After positioning the yellow box, this is the time you resize the yellow box using the number keypad. Take note of the new numbers, enter it in config, and voila!, perfect box for MVP.

I did everything that fhmanas said to do, but the screen on my mvp does not update to the new settings. I have tried it sevral times as I stated in my original post I am updating the values in the Plugin portion of the config application. I adjust the screen as advised open up the config application go to the plugin section manuelly update the settings and then I validate them. I then close the config app and restart the recording service, but nothing changes on my screen size. Is there another file I need to add the settings to outside of the config app?

The MVP screen position tool does not update the settings. It is mainly used to find out what settings you should use. You then need to enter them in manually.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

You have to manually edit the config.xml file and specify the values from the tool. The config.xml file is in the GB-PVR directory. Once you've made the changes & saved the file you'll need to restart GB-PVR for them to take effect. IIRC, there's a default entry and you can also specify a set for each MVP. Again IIRC, it's by the MAC address of the MVP. Notepad can be used to do the editing. Perhaps some kind soul will post a snippet of the config.xml file to show you where to make the changes...I'm at work now & don't have it at hand.

If you only have a single MVP, you can enter the values at the Global Settings.

I have tried the Global settings tab in the plugin in section og the config app, but that did not work so I will edit the xml file and see if that does the trick. Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi All,

I tried editing the MVP portion of the Config.XML file. I noticed that the settings I manually stuck in through the Plugin screen were listed in the file as I placed them, but the screen still does not resize on my tv set. It stays the same no matter what I do, in fact the only thing that changes is that instead of showing the numbers that I put in, it keeps the yellow box in the place it was when I resized it but lists the values as 640,480,0,0 which of course is wrong. So, something is still wrong. CAn anyone help?

Thanks,

Try settiing up a new section with the MAC address of the MVP:

<MAC-000DFE00800A>
<MVPWidth>612</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>448</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>16</MVPOffsetY>
</MAC-000DFE00800A>

This is what worked for me on two MVPs

The MAC address is printed on a label on the bottom of the MVP.

Hi Forum,
Thanks to all that replied. First The MAC address being correct helped immensily and I found that a person could enter the numbers through the configuration screen and not manuelly through the XML with notepad and it worked just fined, but one thing in a addition to restarting GB-PVR a person also has to shutdown and restart the MVP Server for the changes to take effect.

Thanks again,
