So Skype a few months ago released an open API. I have found a .NET port that seems to have some good functionality. I wanted to get some requirements and ideas for a UI.

Requirements -
View Buddy List ( with icon support )
Add a Buddy

Place a Active Call
View Missed Calls
View Active Calls
Mute Call

Current User Status

Other things
- View chat messages
- Send chat message
- Chat message history
- Version info
- Search for User
- Lookup user profile.

What should the UI format be?

Skype's interface.

Is it better to structure it like theater or recordings? With a button for each type of operation
Buddy List, Active Calls, Missed Calls, Active Chats, Missed Chats etc....

I am not sure if I how much time I have to work on it but I might start it.

I have a feeling that this is a dead idea since there wasn't much interest back in November (although the idea is still pretty cool).

I'd like to see a version of MSN Messenger integrated into GBPVR since a) it can do almost everything skype does and B) it's free! (Yes, I know skype is a phone dialer program and MSN is a chat program but the communication concept is the same.)

Skype integration with GB-PVR??! Yes please!!Big Grin

This would be seriously cool. I expect I can get it working with my hauppauge remote for the time being, but a plug-in would be fabulous!!

yeah, me too! I want one!
Skype, MSN, whatever (we use them all). Prefer Skype but anything that will allow us to do Video Conf with users of one of those big three (Skype, MSN, Yahoo).
An option to set (either using the services statuses or locally in the plugin) - the intrusion level.
Have an option that will auto-pause on incoming calls?
Show a small notifier down-right (like the normal clients do)
on screen keyboard of course (when needed)
Video plugin - similar to Skype (or MSN when in full screen full video conf) - have a PIP of self
etc...
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

my new "VidPhone" (look at my sig) plugin does these things
Quote:Have an option that will auto-pause on incoming calls?
Show a small notifier down-right (like the normal clients do)
Video plugin - similar to Skype (or MSN when in full screen full video conf) - have a PIP of self
and it uses sip.

HI all
i have to admit that i haven't tried the "VidPhone" plugin so i could be wrong but i think Skype does not utilise the SIP protocol.
It uses it's own proprietary protocol so i don't think that this would work for me
"cannot call Skype users"
And it would be a pain to get all my contacts to change over
