Hi!

I have been having some problems making GBPVR use the Nvidia pure video codecs. I'm not sure what is up. I can go straight into graphedit and render a saved file with no problems. The graph looks like the attched one. I know it is working on media player because it puts an icon in the tray for me. GBPVR does not put in the tray icon and no sound is played when the Nvidia codecs are explicitly selected. So, I checked the GBPVR logs. They look like this for viewing live TV:

I can't see any errors and it looks like it picked up the Nvidia codecs. So, now I try and look at the .grf files that are generated. Unfortunately, they give me an error and I can't open any of them. The error box is also attached.

I'm not sure what is up. The scheduler works great and I can always watch my shows with mediaplayer, but I would like to know how to make the whole package work. Any ideas?

These logs seem to indicate that directshow is using the Nvidia decoder. There is no other decoders listed in there, so if you're getting video, then its definitly being used.

That's what I thought. However, the audio also makes me think otherwise. I can choose another codec like the Nero audio codec and it shows up. Then, I get audio. The same is true for AC3 filter. Here, I have selected Nvidia as the audio and video codec and I get no audio and no tray icon. Only video. Media player, however, is perfect. The tray icon allows me to make sure that both audio and video are being processed.

Any ideas why I can't view the *.grf files to see what it is actually doing? That is probably the key to figuring this out.

You can view the graph files produced when you use Overlay, because of a custom filter used to produce overlay graphics. If you switch to VMR7/9, then you should be able to open them.

Cool! That does get me into the graph editor with no errors. So, still no audio. However, when I load the lastgraph.grf into graphedit, I get sound and everything. Still no sound from within GBPVR. I must be missing something.

Maybe try deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastVolume registry key, incase it is the reason for the missing audio.

I deleted the key and still no audio. Next idea?

Thanks for your help, by the way!

Sub,

I've done a little more research. Maybe it helps, maybe not. Anyway, I can get audio when I use the Nero decoder, but not with the Nvidia decoder. I checked out the graphs generated by each, and there are slight differences. I'm not sure if this helps any, but I have attached pictures of the two graphs. It looks like Nero, tells the audio renderer that it is sending PCM audio whereas the Nvidia codec sends a guid_null string.

I can use the nero decoder, but I think I get better performance from the Nvidia decoder.

Thanks again!

What did the rest of the graph look like for both of these? Did they use the same demultiplexer?
