Instead of the standard MPEG2 recording, is it possible to record to MPEG4 using GBPVR? I am using a Hauppauge-PVR150. I am not sure if the encoding is based on hardware on the card, or whether you can specify a seperate software encoder from GBPVR.

Thanks in advance.

p.s. can you tell i bought a 60GB iPod video?? Smile

You could always transcode the MPEG-2 file to MPEG4. What specs does the IPOD video require?

That's no problem, i found a program that will do the transcoding (mp2 --> mp4) quite nicely. Just thought if i could do it straight from the source it would be ideal. Maybe one day if more GBPVR users purchase these ipods someone will write a plugin that will allow you to choose your shows and have them transcode to mp4 after they have completed recording in MPEG-2....

Thanks...

You can do this now with some of the automated methods that people have posted in the forum. I posted something like this earlier but I don't know what the required specs for the IPod are.

I put a hook in there so that you can have profiles for different shows. For portable apps, the transcodes all go to a user specified directory for easy access while still keeping your mpg-2 files to watch on tv.

The only thing is the format you want as stattik states. If it's the iPod then it's probably mov files which I believe some builds of mencoder can do. The profiles I've included are divx and xvid.

What is the program and where did you get it?

Thanks...
