I'm taking a stab at getting the newest comskip running again.
I've got SA working perfectly, but it doesn't output cuttermaran, and my videoredo trial ended Wink
So...I'm trying to use comskip, comclean2, and renamerecordings.
I have comskip running during the recording, no problem.
It's outputting all the stuff I want, and with a little tuning, I should be OK.
Then I have (in postprocessing.bat) comclean2, which seems to be doing it's thing nicely.
I then have renamerecordings...and here's where I get messed up.
Because comskip outputs the cutlists before the file is renamed, they become useless. If comskip has worked properly, then comclean has given me a useable mpg. If comskip has missed, and comclean has cut a portion of show out, I still want the option of manually cutting the file, using the cutlist, but everything has been renamed. I have to open the .wme (for example) in notepad, copy the original name of the show, rename the mpg, then manually edit.
Is there any way around this?
Can I rename before comskip/comclean, or is there another way?

Second problem. With multiple tuners, I often have shows that end at exactly the same time. It seems that comclean only runs on the first show (I have no idea how it chooses which one of the 3). They all seem to get renamed properly.

Problem 3. My initial cut list is dead accurate, but the final cutlist only represents about 1/3 of the actual commercials. What am I supposed to change to rectify this? I can't figure it out, and I've been through the tuning manual at least 9 times. Big Grin

Reboot,

Could you follow this procedure for problem 3?

Nah, Erik, I don't want to bother you with all my tuning troubles, just a hint or two on where to start would help.
I've got some experience tuning the older versions, and this one (your latest) works exceptionally fast, and reasonably accurate already. Big Grin
I just need a nudge to finesse the last bit of commercials out of my recordings Big Grin

OK. I've been at it all morning, and have some settings that do the same as in my first post. Initial list is perfect! Final cutlist leaves out (at least) two of the initally detected commercial blocks.
I just can't figure out why.
I've tried all the variances of detect methods, and have logo detection perfect, blackframe detection reasonable, AR is good, SC is good...like I said, initial list is perfect.
What would cause final list to discard something found in the initial list?
Fuzzy Logic? I tried disabling it, with no better results.
My black frame detection? I have it as you've posted in your guides, 5 above the minimum average.
I'll zip things up anyhow, so you can have a look.

The only processing done between the initial commercial list and the final commercial list is to check if any commercial break falls outside "normal" commercial durations.
These are specified in your comskip.ini file as
max_commercialbreak=290 ;maximum length in seconds to consider a segment a commercial break
min_commercialbreak=10 ;minimum length in seconds to consider a segment a commercial break

Your log file states

---------------------
Initial Commercial List
---------------------
0) 6910 12798 0: 3:16.46
1) 25955 33337 0: 4:6.31
2) 48327 56189 0: 4:22.33
3) 78614 81535 0: 1:37.46

---------------------
Final Commercial List
---------------------
1 - start: 6910 end: 12798 [ 1: 7] length: 0: 3:16.46
2 - start: 78614 end: 81535 [ 32: 33] length: 0: 1:37.46

So the two long commercials got discarded.
This is because they are assumed to be longer then the max_commercialbreak.
Now you may say that you have calculated this and that you are sure they are within the limit, I can only say that there may be an error in the calculation but I can not find it right now so I have to do some more checking, but for the moment I suggest you increase the max_commercialbreak till they are no longer deleted. :o
Feel free to send me some more questions like these, they make me feel humble....

Excellent! I did a whole bunch more tuning with the min and max commercial stuff, and finally came up with this:
max_commercialbreak=381
min_commercialbreak=91
max_commercial_size=121
min_commercial_size=9
min_show_segment_length=241

So far, perfect detection on THAT channel. Big Grin I had to bump the max commercial break up, by quite a bit, so it's now well over 6 minutes. Then tuned the min_commercialbreak so it's more realistic.
