Hi I am new to GBPVR, just having come over from another commercial package.

First things first - wow the TV on this package is fantastic.

Now for the problem. I cannot for the life of me get the Channel on my STB to change when I am recording. Live TV is no problem.

I have read through the fixes and have seen solutions for the PVR150 - however I am using the PVR500MCE.

I have 1 tuner configured to connect to the external STB. This tuner is configured to use the external .exe channel changer. I use the event.exe from GIRDER to change my channels (I do this because I am using Girder V4 and haven't had any success with the GBPVR Girder plugin).

The 2nd Tuner is configured to get OTA channels and doesn't require a channel changer.

Can anybody please advise how I may be able to fix this???

I really love the quality of the live TV - I just need the recorded TV to record the right channel from the STB.

Thanks a bunch

Girder's event.exe uses the clipboard to transfer information, but this doesnt work from the recording service since its running under a different user account (different user accounts dont share a clipboard). You'll probably need to ask on the girder forums if they have a similar utility which doesnt use the WM_COPYDATA method.

Sub - I am having all sorts of issues with channel change for recording.

What is the other User Account that the service is using?

I checked my User accounts and I only have 2. My account and Guest and the guest account is disabled.

Should there be another account?

Its one called 'localsystem' which is hidden but always present.

Hi Sub and thanks for the information.

I checked the logs for GBPVR, and sure enough there is a record in the Service log that a channel change request was sent to external changer.

But there is no physical channel change going on (Girder does not receive the message)

However when I do a channel change in Live TV it works (most of the time).

It seems to be something to do with the CSEVENT.EXE from girder and the use of the "localsystem" user account.

Since CSEVENT.EXE is using the communication server in Girder to communicate I should not be encountering the WM_COPYDATA method problem I was facing before.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

GBPVR is so far the only system (commercial & free) that gives me what I want from a PVR in a single package, however having no scheduled recording is a real issue for me.

Please help, or advise how to trouble shoot.

To be honest, you'd probably need to talk to the Girder guys about this. GB-PVR is doing exactly what it is supposed to, but CSEVENT.EXE is letting you down.

We've gone through the process of trouble shooting this type of thing in the past, and it's always turned out to be external executable at fault. There hasnt been a single change in the .exe channel changer in about 2 years, and its in use by tons on people.

You probably want to find out if there is any way to get csevent.exe to produce a log file. This should give some useful clues.

Just to follow up. There was an issue with CSEVENT.EXE and sending messages to the localhost. This was fixed by the Girder team as of Girder 4.01
