Hi All

When I play a recording and push "pause" I get a black transision for a second but using the same dongle.bin in the old GB-PVR version v0.93.10 dosent it seems quicker this way since you dont "wait" for this millisecound black overlay screen.

Any Idea about why the new version are showing this Black transission?
This is not a biggie just strange and if its a quick fix then great

Cheers & Happy Christmas to you All !Big Grin
And to you Sub for all your hard work making such a great Tool!

Yes....I'm also running v.095.16 and I see the same on my MVP - a black flicker just before pausing the video....

Hey buddies, I get the same effect also? What's causing this effect?

I upgraded from a really old GBPVR version (93.?) after my hard drive crashed. The old version still had the half-transparent OSD for the MVP. When I first upgraded to 95.? I noticed that the OSD came up fully transparent, which was nice. With 95.16, though, I sometimes get an immediate transparent OSD, sometimes I get an OSD on black for a second before the show returns behind the OSD, and sometimes instead of black I get a crazy pink blocky effect before the OSD and picture returns to normal. It always takes only a second or so, so it isn't too bad, but I never noticed this with the previous version. I tried turning off the "fully transparent" MVP option in the config, but it didn't seem to do anything.

i've always had this also since the 93x vers. and i think it has to do with the osd and video overlay plugin feature he developed in 94.xx...
and maybe only on certain mvp firmwares...what version mvp hardware do you have?
i'm running an model 86001 rev. E1M
[which i just curiously noticed it's a sticker placed over an E1!]
probably means E1 hardware with M firmware...
looking forward to trying the new dongle and new GB vesion tho!
[i'll test it later and let ya know how that one looks here]
keeping fingers crossed...cuz i saw some changes in the osd in changelog..Smile
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

I think pBS is saying he's seeing this on the newer versions, too. I see it in 95.16 - haven't had a chance to try the new version yet. I get the pink effect most of the time - sometimes I see the menu or guide flash by. Anyone else see this? I also wondered if the MVP version or dongle version could affect this, but I suppose most people get the same version of the dongle from the GB-PVR distribution. I'm hooked up to the tv with s-video with a D1 MVP.

Haven't gotten to try it with 96.8 yet, but here's what it looks like when bringing up the OSD. If I bring it up again soon after it's just the quick black screen, but after waiting a while I get this again.

To say it with sub's words: I have no idea, its working for the majority... Go and use a linux solution like VDR (linvdr with vompserver for MEdiaMVP, ...). Thats what I did and i have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS anymore!
I tried a lot of windows based solutions before and having heard the above from sub made me rethink and use an open source and linux based solution...

While I think Sub might have said that elsewhere, I don't see it on this thread. I have tried MediaMVP Media Center with MythTV. It does work well, I like that it is open sourced, and it has some nice features like being able to play off of shared drives (no server necessary if you have an NFS NAS). However, GB-PVR has a full interface on the MVP, including plugins, and allows live TV, scheduling, playback and all that other jazz. MVPmc only allows playback and live TV right now, and doesn't support the commercial skip that Myth does (yet). There's little things, too, like 5 in MVPmc goes to 50% of the video, whereas 5 skip is jump five minutes in GB-PVR. The latter is much better, I think. I usually use only open source software that comes in zip files (no installer, no system changes). I contribute code to OSS. But GB-PVR is an exception, and for good reason. Perfect? No. Great for me? Yes.

(Don't construe my comments as inflamatory - everyone can have an opinion. This one little issue isn't enough to turn me off. The other issue of being non-OSS might be for some, but not me, at least in this case. Also, I basing this on always using an MVP as a frontend. Things may or may not be different with a dedicated HTPC.)
