Hi, I am using a Theater 550 card, and have the need for hte live preview mode of this program.

Using the encoder passthrough works fine (with the small delay), and "none" works as well (slightly out of sync audio; not a problem though). I need a software deinterlacer and I would like to use the "Deinterlace Filter" (which I understand is part of the old Dscaler code).

Anyways, whend I choose that option, I get sound but the display is completely black. Is it broken for everybody or have I messed something up?

To be honest, the deinterlace filter is crap. I wouldnt recommend you try to use it. It's caused problems for most people that have tried it. I stick with the 'encoder pass-through' option myself.

I've removed it as an option in the next release.

Well, is there any other software deinterlacer? The encoder passthrough is fine most of the time, but there are a couple uses where the 1 second delay it causes can be a problem.

I don't need it to look amazing, just something better than interlaced.

I am not trying to put down GB-PVR or compare it to other software, but I used a trial software recently that gives you the alternative to download the dscaler DLL's and allows you to choose from them for software deinterlacing. It wasn't DScaler quality, but it was close.

Yes, you can use either ffdshow or the Alparysoft one. In theory you can also use other ones, by placing the directshow filter name directly in config.xml.

For most people it's more like a half second (or less). I would be surprised if its adding a second for you.

It probably is a half second, but I was just stating.

Anyways, is the Alparysoft one just supposed to work? I tried selecting it and the screen looks as if I had none selected. It does not appear to be doing any deinterlacing.

Did you download and install it? This filter is not installed with GB-PVR.

Ah, of course. I just downloaded and installed it.

I still wouldn't mind a hint in the right direction if anybody knows how to get the "Deinterlace Filter" to work. To my eye, the Alparysoft filter has pretty bad PQ, and I would at least like to see how the other one compares. I have not gotten around to testing the ffdshow thing yet. I keep reading that it can get complicated.

Honestly, its crap - nothing like dscaler of today that you're probably thinking of. I've removed it from the next build.

Try ffdshow, or use 'encoder pass-through' like the rest of us.

Ok, I'll take your word for it.

I finally figured out how to get ffdshow to work (must use older version with separate raw options). It provides exactly what I want, and the picture quality is so much better.

There is only one problem. It stutters badly. I watched CPU usage and it doesn't get higher than 50%, but continues to stutter.

OK, I have messed with it for a while and tried multiple versions of ffshow. I cannot get rid of the stutering.

It plays fine for about 7 seconds, then skips 3 times for about a second, one second apart, then repeats.

If anybody has any ideas as to what could be causing this, please let me know. I am at a total loss.
