I have been beating my head against the wall all day trying to make GB-PVR work with a NVTV-based card.

I hage a working graph from MediaPortal (yes, with timeshifting), but I would really really like to use GB-PVR with it's superior feature set.

I have included my logs, configs, and graphs in an attachment. It looks like GBPVR gets up to the "encoder" phase then gets confused. Is there some way of defining a custom filter graph? Or are we in edit-the-sourcecode land?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays!

I dont know if you'll get this card to work with GB-PVR or not, but the first thing you should do is set you deinterlacing to 'encoder pass through'. The other options definitely wont work with that card (and this can be seen as causing a problem in your logs).

You would also have been better of by starting from a copy of one of the devices that has "BLACKBIRD=1" in direct.ini

Thanks for the advice. Copied a blackbird card; the "Emuzed Maui III PAL". It seemed to be the closest to my working filter graph. Here's what I ended up with:

Code:
[NVTV]
INIT_MODE=DEFAULT
INIT_MSP=0
SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO=1
BLACKBIRD=1
CONEXANT=0
FILTER_CROSSBAR=NVTV Crossbar
FILTER_CAPTURE=NVTV
FILTER_TV_TUNER=NVTV Tuner
FILTER_TV_AUDIO=NVTV Audio
FILTER_ENCODER=NVIDIA MPEG Multiplexer
FILTER_ENCODER_VIDEO=NVTV Encoder
FILTER_ENCODER_AUDIO=NVIDIA Audio Encoder
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_TUNER_IN=Video Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_TUNER_IN=Audio Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_DECODER_OUT=Video Decoder Out
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_DECODER_OUT=Audio Decoder Out
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_VIDEO_OUT=Analog Video
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_AUDIO_OUT=Analog Audio
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_IN=TVAudio In
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_OUT=TVAudio Out
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDEO_IN=Analog Video In
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_AUDIO_IN=Input4
PIN_CAPTURE_I2S_OUT=Output1
PIN_CAPTURE_656_OUT=Output0
PIN_ENCODER_I2S_IN=Audio
PIN_ENCODER_656_IN=Video
PIN_ENCODER_OUT=Output
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

When I look at the filter graph it is broken right in the middle, so to speak. The video out from the CAPTURE filter is connected to the input of the NVTV Encoder filter. There is no audio encoder connected, or MPEG Muxer connected either. A second chain is generated that is complete from the MPEG2 Demuxer through the rest of the chain (VMR and audio out).

It seems that the NVTV cards use two seperate filters for the video and audio encoding, then mux them with another filter to create the mpeg2 stream. Looking at the INI file, it seems like the Emuzed card does something similar... but I just cant seem to get all the way there. Am I on the right path?

Yeah, I think you're right about it being similar to the Emuzed one...but the bad news is this card is confirmed not working.

In the last release I started working on supporting this arrangements of directshow filters (which isnt common), but I didnt complete this task. So, unfortunately, its unlikely you'll get this device to work with the current version of GB-PVR - sorry.

Hi there,

What happened with NVTV support?

Since I bought my new machine I stumbled on an nForce4+SATA+Theater550 issue and have to look for a new tuner card. So I thought that XFX NVTV single tuner (PAL) is my next best option.

I saw few threads with NVTV subject but with no final solution. Will mentioned card work with GBPVR?

The Nvidia DualTV works with GB-PVR, with a couple of minor tweaks: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=22055. Older Nvidia designs may or may not work,

Thanks sub,

Unfortunately DualTV is still not available in Europe and it is quite a different animal compared to old NVTV chipset.

At least, it is good to know that it is not confirmed that this card works (I think that it has the same design as EVGA mentioned in this post).
