Im trying the purevideo decoder again and it plays mpeg files fine in wmp but gbpvr it doesnt display the video full screen on livetv and recorded files. there are large spaces of garbage on the right and bottom of the screen. I would say only about 50% of the screen is being used by video? Not sure how to take a screenshot or I would post a pic.

I have the same trouble with my new nVidia 6200's TV out, and I've found it's only related to VMR9. With VMR9, it'll switch back and forth between full screen output to a smaller output with peculiar black regions on the right and bottom portion of the screen. For me, it occurs regardless of the decoder I use. My guess is it's driver related.

The problem does not occur when I use VMR7 or Overlay modes.

fixed the problem using the resize option in ffdshow. Mainconcept is my main decoder also. I just wanted to try nvidia again since I have the purevideo hardware on my video card.

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my video card from an ATI Radeon 9800 to a Nvidia 6600 and am now experiencing this problem (the odd thing is that I see this with other codecs also). Let me start off by saying that the ATI card was very good and had few issues but I purchased a new TV and the 6600 has better HDTV support. So being that I now have this problem I have done some research and would like to add to the discussion.

Information:
I switched over to GBPVR from Mediaportal about 6 months ago and have not looked back since. When I ran into problems with 6600 I tried many things, including putting the ATI (it was fine with purvideo decoder), VMR7 (worked fine but terrible output), and finally I figured I would give Mediaportal a shot to see how it works with the purevideo decoder + 6600 board and it hate to say it but it works fine. So it leads me to wonder if this may be an issue in the way that GBPVR uses VMR9?

Question:
What is Product specificall are you using from Mainconcept for the MPEG2 decoder? I am looking on the webpage and they have an impressive list of products but I am unsure as to which one I would need. As I love GBPVR (I have even given sub a X-mas gift!) I really want to get this working again.

I am having the exact same issue, but I am lucky enough to have one of the aspect ratio's working correctly (0,0,1,1). As soon as I try something different, like 0,-0.01,1,1 to get rid of the flickering bar at the top of the screen I get the same funky result described above. I too use the nVidia Purevideo decoder with hardware acceleration (very nice) and VMR9. Any ideas?

I assume this is the same problem as in this thread:

With the various Nvidia 6x00 I tried I got this problem. In the end I just ended up staying with my 5900XT. I decided I could wait a bit longer for the 6x00 Purevideo features.

Does cyclying through the various aspect ratios using F7 help find a ratio that works? I've got a 6600gt and that worked for me. Although, when I use the Nvidia decoders, I sometimes get colored lines on the right side and top of the screen. However, it's been doing this for quite a while.

My question is why is this isoloated to gbpvr? Mediaportal, WMP, and other applications are free of this problem.

I get the same problem running a 6150. It seems to only occur in Live TV. If I turn time-shifting on, it goes away and I can change through all my aspect ratios without issue. Otherwise only the normal aspect ratio works I believe.

if your liveTV is different than timeshifted or previously recorded video viewing, you may want to check the deinterlacing section under the Misc tab of the GBPVR configuration and see if "encoder passthrough" is set. i believe with this set the liveTV behaviour should be the same as the other viewing modes.
