Greetz,
I've been tinkering with serving my MVPs with GBPVR. I currently use the recording function of GBPVR ony, and use Hauppage's software to serve the content.

In my tinkering, I realized there was no pictures plugin built shipped with GBPVR. So I started looking and found the "My Pictures" plugin. Well, suffice to say, that didn't work well for me. For some reason this plugin just hammers the heck outta my media server. After testing off-and-on for most of the afternoon yesterday, and finding many with MVPs have similar issues, I chucked that plugin for now.

Is this the only "Pictures" plugin available currently? I think its the only thing holding me up at this point. The wife would definately miss it. Thanks in advance.

there was a "pictures" plugin a long time back, even if you could find it i'm not sure how it would fare with the latest version of gbpvr, My pictures doesn't work for me either(over mvp). Sadly reven who develops it doesn't own an mvp and has no real interest in developing it to work with the mvp so we are stuck. I know some people have had it working bit I just get constant "out of memory" errors....works lovely on the server pc, just not over MVP...

Here is a link to the "pictures" plugin. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2020
It is old but it works on the MVP. I don't think it is being developed anymore. The only small issue I had was it does not seem to let me view pictures that I have stored on a network box (not my PVR box). My Pictures locks up my system.

Just as counter-point, I use gb-pvr exclusively over MVPs and I've used My Pictures ever since I first installed gb-pvr; it works fine for me...

Maybe it's a skin issue? Or something on the machine? Or how photographs are organised on your drive? We have loads of pics, but they are arranged by directory names of Month-Year, so there is rarely occasion to load them all. That said, I can run slideshows of 50+ pics on the MVP without any problems...

It can be done!

I've tried it with blue skin, still get the same problem.

None of my directories are what you would call massive, all categorised and sub categorised so under my pictures i have "cars" containing "vw's" and "porsche" etc with further subcategories as required, then "holidays" containing "malaysia" and "austrailia" etc....

I tried setting each top category as virtual root, just pointing the virtual root at "my pictures" and various other combinations....

As I said, if I hook up a monitor to the server it works a treat, so it has to be something to do with the mvp.....probably:confused:

I'm using the old Pictures plugin on 95.16 with no problems at all. I tried the My Pictures plugin quite a while ago on my old box but it gave me fits. I've been meaning to try the current version on my new box but haven't had a chance. All I use are MVP's, never on the pc itself.

Same here. I have roughly 5000 family photos split up over 6 or seven directorys (1st half of year, 2nd half of year, etc). Everything works great over my MVP.

I only just started serving my MVPs with GBPVR (I have been using the recording piece for a bit now). I tested with the Blue Skin. Everything else works fine except for that. I currently have the XRecord plugin, Weather Plugin, and now am starting to use The Collection, with the Appearance Manager plugin. Doesn't matter what I seem to do, as soon as I start using the MyPictures plugin, all physical memory was consumed and the swap-file grows to 1.5gig in size. I disable the plugin and all is good.

I have thousands and thousands of pictures, and like someone up above has said, I had to finally organize them by "year/year_month". So they are pretty well organized. Don't know what the deal is. Works fine with Hauppages software.

An interesting thing to note....soon after I started testing MyPictures, many of the other plugins stopped working properly (default plugins, even in Blue Skin). After about an hour, I read the Faq and the error pointed to a problem with a plugin. So I removed all the 3rd party plugins, and reinserted them one-at-a-time....the problems stopped with MyPictures out of the way.

I plan on testing again at a later date, I'm sure there must be a reasonable explanation. But for now.....no pictures to the MVP. Not a big deal currently.

Thanks for the link to the old Pictures plugin, I'll give it a shot. I'll yell when/if I discover what my issue is with MyPictures.
