Hi,

It took a while but I finally got gb-pvr working quite well through Media MVP.

One problem : I have Hauppauge 45 button remote. When I hit the skip or FF button when watching either Live TV or recording on MVP, the playback stops and kick back to menu screen with the following message :

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Skip and FF works directly woth GB-pvr on pc. They even work in TV-Guide menu on MVP.

What is not working ? Thanks !

I get this same error. Did you ever find a solution?

I have the same problems.

If I use fast forward or skip I get the error:
'Object Rerence not set to an instance of an object'

I tried installing v0.99.5
According to the bug fix list
'Added a couple of tweaks to the MVP FF/RW functionality. This should resolve an issue that would cause GBV-PVR to return to the main menu during fast-forwarding on the MVP.'

But for me no success :-(

What is the solution ?

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hello Sub,

And thanks for looking at this. What I find (v0.99.5) is that if I press the MVP remote Skip button twice, it always jumps to the end (even of a 30-minute show). I attached a zip of the logs directory.

The other navigation buttons may also be acting funny, but I'm not sure yet (I should make a recording of a clock to know for sure).

On another related point, has anyone done an MVP bookmarking-type feature, to be able to later be able to resume watching at the stopped point of a show. It didn't look like any of the plugins do this.

Thanks for everything.

Are you a PVR150 owner? If so, then its probably the PVR150 timestamp bug, see: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

Did you enable the 'prompt for resume' feature in the config app? ...though you'll need to apply the PVR150 timestamp fix first before this works correctly.

Under Misc, I definately have left the default of "Use short skip instead of FF/RW" checked. Also, I have the default config.xml lines of:

<SkipInsteadOfFFRW>true</SkipInsteadOfFFRW>
<SkipInsteadOfFFRWSeconds>10</SkipInsteadOfFFRWSeconds>
<DefaultSkipSecondsForward>60</DefaultSkipSecondsForward>
<DefaultSkipSecondsBack>30</DefaultSkipSecondsBack>
<ManualSkipTimebase>Minutes</ManualSkipTimebase>

Sub, yes, I have the PVR-150, thanks for the pionter. I did find even using the Hauppauge MediaMVP software their display of program duration and skipping seemed random. I'll make those driver changes now. Mind you, I'm running Windows 2000 and found that only the PVR-150 2.0.43.24108 drivers would work (other drivers immediately re-booted the PC). I'll make the Registry changes, hopefully the timestamp fix is still in the 2.0.43.24108 drivers.

All is well, nay, fantastic. This is really cool. Thanks all.

The skip not working was due to the timestamp problem in the PVR-150 driver (sorry I hadn't thought to look through the forums for that as a cause), and the PVR-150 v2.0.43.24108 driver both works for Windows 2000 and already has the timestamp fix (which was enabled once I added those registry keys).

Also, for the record, my Windows 2000 PC has a 733 MHz Pentium processor, and is fine for recording from the PVR-150 (medium resolution) and playing back on the MediaMVP (wired, 100Base-T). I don't plan on trying anything fancy, such as DVD playback or other transcoding.
