Hi,

when I record a show, lets say going from 8:00 to 10:00, and then I come home at 8:30 and start playing the file from "Recordings" while it is still recording, I can only watch it for the time that has passed since its beginning. In this case for 30 minutes. It then stops and I can start playing it again, then again lasting for the time past, so another 30 minutes when I jump to the end point of the former session.

Is this the wanted behaviour? Sorry if this was discussed before, I could not find this topic.

Greetings
Jui

No its not wanted behaviour, but it is what happens at the moment (except on the MVP). Microsoft give you two choices when playing a file.

- One mode allows you to use ff/rw/skip etc during playback, but must know the length of the file at the beginning of playback.

- The other mode does not need to know the length of the file, but only allows pause/play. I use this for live TV.

This behaviour is controlled by component called the Microsoft MPEG-2 Splitter filter, which is in charge of the whole playback process.

To change this behaviour I'd need to create a replacement for this component.
