Is there any way to leave all other functions on the remote alone but change only the volume up and volume down to change the volume on my logitech Z-5500 system? I can't find anything on this in the wiki or forum search.

depends how this system works...

you possibly can do something by editing irremote.ini and working with fndWindow(), sys() or if you can code something maybe run{}

do you have more information? or let me ask it this way: if you want to change the volume of the logitech Z-5500, what do you do for now?

if you are talking about having the volume control always adjust the main system volume rather than the GBPVR volume, then you can do that by editing the irremote.ini file, surfing down to the GBPVR section and removing the declarations for the volume buttons. this way the irremote software will not see any GBPVR specific mapping for the volume control buttons and will use the default mapping listed in the "default" section.

if you are trying to get the hauppauge remote to control your Z-5500, and it currently does not in any way, then i have no idea.

I either use the knob on the control centre or use the remote that came with it.

Unless you switch to a universal remote I think your out of luck. Wait, did you say it had a software control panel? You may be able to configure your irremote.ini so the volume control is directed at the control panel.

This is what I would like to be able to do as well! However, I didn't think the Hauppauge remote could be reprogramed to any other manufacturer's code let alone control multiple devices simultaneously?

You're right - what A Brass was saying was that if the audio had a software control panel rather than just being a hardware amplifier, then the irremote.ini file could be edited to control it. The only obvious way I can think of to use the hauppauge remote to control another device is to use a USB-UIRT or similar and edit the irremote.ini to use something like girder to transmit certain codes on certain key-presses.

cheers,

I removed the volume settings from the gb-pvr section after making sure the hauppauge volume was turned all of the way up and works great now I have control over the volume of music and I also use the new plugin volume OSD and have it set to master volume instead of gbpvr volume and it works for everyting thanks for the info.
