First post here.
I have been reading about lots of problems with drivers with the PVR-150 and here is what is happening since ...oh about 2:30pm today. Built a pvr machine , Athlon XP1800 , 512mb ram , Radeon 9200se and a brand spanking new pvr-150. Loaded XP and all the updates , load the Hauppage software and drivers , watch some tv with WinTV, Good. Install and configure GB-PVR , download guide and watch some more tv - this is great. Had to go out to dinner , so I set it up to do a 1/2 hour recording to test everything out on Ch 18. Got home , the recording was there , but no audio. To make an already to long story short(er), I found that I had sound only up to channel 13 (on CATV) and on one or 2 others up to 69 (both on GBPVR and WIntV) Searched and found 3 different set of drivers here that sounded promising. Installed all 3 and the originals using the method I read about here using HCWCLEAR , Regclean and then re-install. I now have no video or audio but when doing a channel scan it finds all the right channels but shows nothing.
Sorry for the long first post but from what I have read so far, if there is a solution to be found it will be found here.
Thanks for your ears....er... eyes.

Welcome! Smile

Unfortunatly i cant help you with pointing you in the right direction for drivers, but just some tips on updating them. Apologies if im teaching you to suck eggs!

The hauppague method for changing/upgrading drivers is frankly a bit bonkers

Take an image/backup of your system after all the XP updates and before putting your 150 in the box. Every time you have a new set of drivers to try, rather than doing the hcwclear malarky, just restore the backed up image and *know for sure* that there are no bits of the old drivers lying around to mess things up.

I did this after messing around no end with my drivers, and a set that had not worked when id updated using hcwclear, miraculously started working on a clean image...

Don´t use the latest Drivers for the PVR-150.
My gbpvr stoped recording audio on all channels after updating with the latest
hauppauge drivers. I went back to the pre drivers and everything was fine.
But the recording quality was that bad - so now i´m using dvb-s .... a great improvement. So actually my recordings with gbpvr look much better than
the direct tv on analogue cable here in Germany....

After a nights sleep I decided to give it a try again. Did the HCWclear, regclean twice and re-installed with the cd drivers and I am now back working somewhat.
I have no sound on channels 14-23 but everything else seems to be working again. I am presently trying a recording as we speak. I could live without the channels that don't have sound but I want to venture into getting the IR blaster working and record some digital channels from my digital box. I am hoping it is only a problem with the analogue tuner portion of the card/driver.

off to figure out how to set it to record from composite in for the digital stations and directly off the cable for the non-digital stations....

thanks for the help guys.

tipstir Wrote:The ones on the orange CD that comes with PVR-150 version 2.4 works, but with prior 95.14. But it should with 95.16, which I'll test...

Tipstir, that's interesting... because out of utter frustration on friday evening I uninstalled the whole lot - drivers, wintv, reg entries - reboot, hwclear, reboot - and short of physically taking the card out the slot, I started with a clean slate. Of course I had to add all my channels back, but I didn't care by this point.

So, I reinstalled everything from the 'found new hardware' off my pvr-150 cd; which is version 2.1 - and since then, I have been scheduling test recordings left right and centre - movies, half hour shows, back to back, while doing other stuff on the pc - and they have all worked flawlessly. Perfect timelines.

So what I am wondering is, if you are getting good results with a CD install, and I am getting good results with a different CD install, I wonder if something *outside* of the drivers themselves has become corrupted; a reg entry or something? I know I have suggested this before, but I am honestly wondering if when I have updated drivers only, it ahs broken something else along the line which has caused all these headaches....

And another thought: It seems to me this problem is becoming more and more visible with people posting here and on shspvr; if it is related to driver upgrades in some manner as I suggest above, you would expect to see more people experience it as they upgrade, yeh?

What do you think? All I know is everything *seems* to be working now and that's all I care about....

(probably put the kiss of death on it right there :p )
