Windows Media Player 8, 9, or 10?

I'm using Windows Media Player 8, but was wondering if I should attempt to upgrade to windows media 9 or 10? Does anyone know if I will break anything in the process of doing this?

My PVR machine is running Win 2k and Media player 9, but no idea about wmp 10.

Is anyone else using wmp8? I'm asking because i am not sure if upgrading to wmp9 or 10 will solve two problems that i have... 1) is the prompt to resume pop-up doesnt appear for me and 2) my FM tuner is broken since the last release and i've always wondered if wmp was the cause.
