I'm not sure, I've never tried. But you should be able to record if you switch to timeshift mode first (by pressing pause) and then press record. That will save everything of that show that you have watched (from the point you entered time shift mode, that is).
I'm not always right

TimeShift mode is great if you have to pause for something and then come back watch. But my scenario is this, I'm watching a show and I have to leave and I press record...pressing Record from Live TV should record the show in its entirety without me telling it how long the show is. That way when I get back home I can just play the show from the Video Library.

Try it and report back, it can't take that long to test! Smile

Thats pretty much what it does. Is it not working for you?

You'll need to leave the TV going once you do that. If you switch back to the menu/guide, it will end the recording. It will keep everything that you viewed up to that point in timeshift.

Yes, you will need to leave tv running, but the recording will stop when the show finishes.

Thanks. I'll try it out when I get home tonight and when the little lady is sleeping.

In Live Mode, I initiated TimeShift Mode by pressing the Pause (||) image. The first thing I notice is that the picture stays frozen while I can still hear the audio but eventually the audio turns off after a few minutes. I guess this is a good thing if you leave the house. On the screen (frozen screen that is) I see the Up Channel(+), Down Channel(-), Skip to beginning(|<),Rewind(<<),Pause(||),Forward(>>) and Skip to End(>|). I don't see the Record button as mentioned in previous post so I leave as is. Well the show I was testing on finished at 11:30 but GBPVR kept on recording, it did not stop; I know this from the Recording Status. In my video directory I see two mpg files the show prior to 11:30 and after 11:30.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong and just probably need someone to tell me how to do it properly.

Anyway, here are my current settings...
Use Live Preview mode if possible is CHECKED
Return from timeshift mode on channel change CHECKED

This isnt normal. It sounds like you've got a flakey combination of directshow decoders/filters.

The record button is on your remote, not on the screen (though you can add on by adjusting the skin files if you want). Alternatively, you can press ctrl-K (REC) on the keyboard.

You dont need to manually enter timeshift mode first. Just press the record key while you're watching live tv (preview mode or timeshift).

This is normal. While you're in timeshift mode it'll always be recording in the background, and deleting the old file as each new show start...with the exception of the show you were watching when you pressed the record key. It'll be kept, and you'll notice it's now listed in the Recordings screen.
