I have 96.12 version and have use config to default the medium recording to mpeg 1 default(because I have a slow computer, and do not want the mvp to decode). I have chosen mpeg-1 with resolution 352*240 bitrate 1150000 bps audio sampling 48000. However when it records, it results in a file with extension .avi and not .mpg.

Any hints.

Many Thanks

I've just checked and can see the reason. I'll fix it for the next release.

You'll just have to use MPEG-2 for now, or rename the file.

I find svcd format produces files that are suitable for playback on the mvp. Set the resolution to "NTSC 480x480 / PAL 480x576", the bitrate to "Constant" at 2520 kbits/sec, with an audio rate of 224 and a sample rate of 48khz.

They can also be burned to dvd without re-encoding.

Thanks for the hint. I can now watch my svcd through MVP. Just some more questions: how to set an audio rate of 224. I do not know how to set it in gbpvr config.
Furthermore, do you mind sharing the easiest way to burn svcd to dvd.

many thanks.

In the GB-PVR configuration application, select the "capture sources" tab. Highlight your source, then click the edit button. In the next screen, click the settings button to the right of your recording source. In the next screen, highlight the quality profile you wish to change, then click edit.

That should bring you to a screen that looks like this:[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

Adjust the settings until they are the same as in the above picture.

To burn the files onto dvd, I just import them into my authoring program as I would any other videos. How you do that will depend on what authoring program you use.
