I am wondering where the Genre information gets loaded from?

I am currently using an XMLTV feed (created by O2grabber) and in this feed you get quite a lot of information about programs (regarding actors, episodes etc.) and I wonder why GB PVR does not load the Category field of the show as the Genre or add another possibility to have this searchable?

Perhaps its just me not understanding how this field is to be used but I think this would help quite a few people.

it does use the "Category" attribute for the "Genre", and the tv guide can display genre colours using these values. the built in "Search Guide" just doesnt let you search based on genre, theres nothing stopping a plugin developer using this info and developing a search plugin however.

OK, in that case there might be some problem in my setup or the XMLTV file I use.

The reason is that GBPVR imports other fields into the Genre field in the MDB. Why I do not know, is the import done on field order rather than on field name?

I have both correct Category information in my .MDB file but also Episode information and Description information. So there is no clear pattern for me. Each Genre also gets imported more than one time (i.e. there are more than one instance of each "Genre" in the Genre table).

I will try to see what I can do with this, I thought the Genre would be static and that only new entrys would be inserted and entrys already in the table only referenced?

I think I fixed this myself. I found a cuple of my XMLTV-channels had a (totally XML legal) empty <category /> tag within them. After removing this tag from all programs (I scripted this using ssed) and emptying the database tables and doiing a new EPG reload it is fine, it only loads the correct information.
