Terratec 2400i DT

Newb to all this so go easy!

I am looking to build a HTPC without resorting to the scandalously expensive Windows MCE and associated remote & keyboard.

I quite like the look of this project and noticed that the Terratec dual tuner card was supported. This card ships with an IR remote control. Would I be able to use the remote to control the frontend or would I have to use the (really, really nasty) Cyberlink PowerCinema software that the card also ships with?

If I could not use the Terratec remote with GBPVR, are there any other twin-tuner cards which would work.

Due to the space restraints where the HTPC will be stored, I have to go for the Hiper Media case which limits me to one add-in card, so 2x single DVB tuners is out.

I'm afraid I can't provide an about this remote, but I'd be interested to know if you get this or another twin tuner dvb-t card working, as i also have a hiper media center case and so i'm a bit short of space.

Out of interest, which motherboard are you using/planning on using?

Ive looked at the reviews of that card and the product page but none of them have much detail on the remote...

these type of packages increasingly use rebadged mce remotes though. the fact that the one in this pack is a usb remote with a very similar beanbag to the standard mce receiver would hint that its the same, so all you'd have to do is set 'mce remote' in the config of GBPVR and you'd be up and flying.

Dont quote me on that though, its a fairly big assumtion. Id write to them to find out for sure weather its a MCE remote and what drivers it uses and so on.

Or see if they have a product forum and ask on there...

Not a rebadged MCE I'm afraid. I had hoped for some useful input on how I might be able to configure the remote to work with GBPVR. Unfortunately the tech support number redirected me abroad and I couldn't get my query across to the operator who answered.

Good news....

Some more digging around the Terratec website landed me at this page, which has a manual on how to program the remote.

So you could use this remote, and using this page on the wiki as a starting point, you could program the remote with the keyboard shortcuts that GBPVR uses.

You shouldnt have to change any settings in GBPVR because as far as it was concerned, you would be pressing keys on the keyboard...

Note you will find cheaper prices but these seem to all be for the MCE version of the card which has no remote at all.
