Mostly for the heck of it I am trying to set up an old PC as a PVR using gbpvr.
Hardware is as follows. K7S5A Pro Mother board, 1gig PC2100, Sound Blaster Audigy, GeForce FX5200 (128MB) AGP video card, Happauge 350. Running on Windows XP Pro SP2 with all security updates + Free AVG anti-virus.

I have gotten as far as downloading program information and recording programs. However when I try and view a recorded program (on my PC) all I see is static and no sound. When I try and view Live TV on (my PC) all I get is black and no sound.

Playback settings are: Video and Audio Decoder: InterVideo NonCSS Videco Decoder , Audio Renderer: SB Audigy Audio [D000]

Overlay Manager

Current setup consists of a 50' coax cable running from test PVR to the wall in the living room. Standard Comcast Cable service.

Any other information needed?

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Can you get it to work with the hauppauge software? Does the tuning assistant find the channels ok?
I'm not always right

I do get a clear picture with the Tuning Assistant. Just can not get Live TV to work on my monitor (AGP Nvidia card). Recordings also now are working, good quality sound and audio.

Any advice?

Thanks

Nah, not really. Try zipping and attaching your logs here (or look in them first to see if you can find anything obvious), and someone might be able to take a look. The logs are located in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr (unless you installed somewhere else).

Which country are you in?

If you're not in the US, you'll most likely need to enter the channel numbers, identified by the Tuning Assistant, in to the channel list in your capture source settings.

All the log (*.txt) files? Anyone in paticular?

The Happ.. WinTV works fine, I just can not find the combo that works with gbpvr.

Thanks

Yes... well, since I don't know what the problem is, you'd be better off with all of the log files Smile Sub or someone else might know more precisely which log files are relevant. The ones with numbers in them (1 2 or 3) are backups of previous logs, so they are probably not important to attach.

Here are the log files. I hope someone can tell me what I have configured wrong.

To sum it up. Happ... WinTV works fine. Voice and Audio. I have the TV playlist and Tuner Assistent works as well as do recording when played back through WMP. I can NOT watch Live TV on my PC's monitor.

Thanks

It seems to me you have set hardware decoder device to "pvr-350 hardware decoder". That means you need to use the pvr-350's tv-out, not your NVidia card. If you want to use your nvidia card, you need to set hardware decoder device to "none - use software decoder", and then set "video decoder" to the appropriate value for your system.

Thanks for the advice. But having just tried it. I can't. Every time I use the configureation wizard to change from pvr-350 to anything else it defaults back when I start up the wizard (Yes I saved it, and tried to watch live tv on my monitor).

This is beginng to get a little frustrating. It's very close to working. I can see the TV Guide and record and play TV shows, I just can not watch them on the monitor. I have no idea if I can pipe the output from the pvr-350 out of its s-video port watch TV on my TV via GBPVR.

I am trying to take this one step at a time and this step is failing. Every time.
