After having problems with my first install, I totally rebuilt and have been testing with the bare minimum...

AMD Athlon 1700+
512MB RAM
Windows 2000 (fully updated)
GBPVR v96.12 (MVP Related Patch)
Hauppauge 500MCE
Media MVP

I briefly had comskip installed, but removed it fearing it was the problem when I saw this behavior. I do have the ContourHC skin installed - I can't get by without episode names.

Everything will be just fine, but ocassionaly when I go to a recorded show the reported length (top green bar) will be very short, but the weird thing is the file is full size, and the full file will play, but once I'm beyond the displayed time I usually can't pause or ff without GBPVR booting me out of the recording like it's over. The same file in Windows Media Player also displays the short time. This happens sporatically, and seems more prone to happen when GBPVR has been busy.

Here is an example. I rebooted this morning. All my recordings were set up as reoccurring with a one minute pad front and back though the basic "search guide" feature.

.......................Scheduled........Displayed Time.............File Size
Everyday Italian..10:00-10:30.......31:58........................702,780 KB
Mythbusters.......12:00-1:00.......1:01:58......................1,822,452 KB
Mythbusters.......1:00 -2:00........1:01:58......................1,822,332 KB
Mythbusters.......2:00 -3:00........1:01:59......................1,822,592 KB
Mythbusters.......3:00 -4:00........1:01:58......................1,823,170 KB
Mythbusters.......4:00 -5:00...........25:24.......................1,821,382 KB

This computer has nothing but Windows 2000 and GBPVR on it. The MVP wasn't on for any of the recordings. I'm stumped. Could this be a memory issue? It seems like my bare system uses a lot of memory. It's using 370MB doing nothing but displaying the main screen.

Please help, any suggestions are welcome. I don't know how to begin to trouble shoot this.

Thanks, Merlynn

This is a common problem for the PVR150, and also occasionally for its close relative the PVR500. Solution here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

Thanks, I will try that.

I spent quite a while searching the forums and somehow never managed to find that thread...

It turns out that driver is not compatable with Windows 2000 per the release notes. Any other suggestions?

You can either

1) ungrade to XP
2) hope Hauppauge release Win2000 compatible drivers
3) manually repair the timeline whenever you get a bad recording (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=timeline).

try the older 'red label' drivers...they should work fine on 2000...
[red-labeled cdrom]
the new ones don't add anything so u won't lose anything..[may have to tweak the sound levels tho]
i never had the timeline issue with those...

pBS,

Any idea where I can get the older drivers? What version number are they? (My CD isn't red.)

Sub,

Meanwhile, I'll try the timeline fix. Thanks for pointing me toward it. How can I find out if there is ever a Win2000 fix from Hauppauge? In their notes it just says for those of us with Win2000 to be patient...

Thanks, Merlynn

Just hang out at place like http://www.shspvr.com/smf. If they ever release a new driver that is compatible with Win2000, you should see it posted there.

I use 2.0.24.23035 on win2K after trying many other versions this one works for me, no timeline issues. Also it works with the tweaker utility.
