Hello,

Firstly, I've only just got the oppurtunity to update my GBPVR version to the latest (The last time I updated was around August last year - ouch!). Firstly, I'm amazed at the progress and the new features, it's great - especially ffmpeg transcoding. Just wanted to say it's great to see how far and how well GBPVR is doing Smile

One thing which I noticed straight away though, is that gbpvr.exe -mvpmode -visible which previously allowed the MVP to be controlled via the PC doesn't seem to work anymore, and this was one of the most important features for me. When I use it, the display shown on the PC is black, although everything else works normally (using the remote and the display on the TV screen through the MVP).

I know it was not an officially supported feature, but is there anything I'm doing wrong which might be simple and allow it to work, or any other ideas on how to get it working again?

I'd appreciate any help or ideas - thanks in advance Smile

Its possible its something I broke some time in the past. Its not something I actively test. I originally added this feature when I first added MVP support to help with my testing, but I probably havent tested it in about 18 months.

I'll try to get it going again in the next release..

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the fast reply, and if you could get it going again, I'd greatly appreciate that Smile

If it helps to have a few more details, it seems to open the window fine, but there is no display of the menu (it's black). However, key presses do seem to work, although as the menu didn't update MVP side, only PC side, without the menu being shown on the PC it's pretty much impossible to use. However, it seems to show the only thing missing is the menu display.

A couple of questions, first is mvpmode still part of GBPVR and If so how do I specify which mvp to control?

The -mvpmode parameter is still part of GB-PVR. Infact, thats one of the parameters the Recording Service uses when it auto-starts the MVP servers. (there are some additional parameters used when it auto starts though)

The -visible parameter isnt really supported. Its just something I used during my initial development a few years ago. There is no way to specify which one you'll see.

Users shouldnt really be using the MVP server manually this way. It should be started by the recording service, since that does extra tidy up work when the MVP disconnects. Running the MVP server manually with command line parameters will probably result in things only working once correctly. After the MVP disconnects, you'll most likely find you need to restart the process.

[Edit]
Oops, too slow, and a much better answer from sub Smile
[/Edit]

The -visible mode is highly useful for me as I have a small, oldish television and its a bit away from my computer. I tend to watch television while I am getting on with work on the computer too, and am unable to read any of the text on the screen, which is why being able to see the text on the monitor in front of me is highly useful. It's also useful to be able to do quick things, like turning up/down volume with an alt+tab to the window and a few key presses and get an instant reaction, rather than finding the remote, pointing it and waiting a few seconds while my old computer and MVP catches up.

Its also useful in the fact that the MVP signal from one room is split and goes into another room without an MVP. In the second room, where there also lies a computer, can access the GB-PVR interface through remote desktop and change channel/program remotely, without needing to go through to the other room.

That's why if it is possible for it to stick around woithout too much trouble, it'd be very much appreciated, but obviously its something insignificant in the big picture, so if its not possible that's fine Smile
