Ok, starting to use the PVR more and more... but how do I...?

While zapping, we see a movie starting. But there are commercials, so we wanted to watch it in time-shift. Wait like 30 minutes, and then start to watch.
But - I don't want it to hang on the channel on "pause". I wanted, while it's recording, to go to the guide, and schedule some future recordings.

So, I hit "rec", and went to the guide. But how do I start to watch it?
We went to the recordings menu, and selected that recording to watch, but it stopped the recording, and we only had a 30 minutes to watch.

How was I suppose to do it?

I always go to the guide then hit ok, quick record on it, then you're free go go about the guide doing other stuff.

Then it will show up in recordings, and I think it would also show up in the tv-guide if you clicked ok on it again that you could watch the recording

Wait, but how do you know "join" the show _while_ it is still recording? I didn't mean to wait till it ends.

No I think while it's still recording the when you click on it in the guide I think just give you the watch option and that is watching the recorded one....I think. I'd have to try at home to confirm.

Failing that you can get it from the Recordings screen - while it's in progress

that's what I did - from the recording menu, but then it only played 30 minutes (also the top "progress" bar showed only 30 minutes length, the movie was 120).
So after 30 minutes it stopped.
It's like as if when I clicked the recording to watch, it stopped the recording, as oppose to "join" the recording (show it but continue recording in the background).

Try running the 'ReRegisterFilters.bat' to see if it helps. I suspect it will.

It was added in the v0.96.12 release. What version are you running?

There should be a shortcut created for it in the start menu.

Running v0.96.12. (nice idea to my in-progress wishlist - auto-update Smile )
Found the shortcut and ran it. Will check later (probably tomorrow) the differnece. What bat/exe is it running?
And, if we're at it - why have you chosen to use those type of strange shortcuts (where the is just "GB-PVR" and is disabled)?

[P.S - haven't had a chance to comment yet - GBPVR is amazing, been through few (MS / Linux) - only one that actually works!]
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

It's just running Microsoft's regsrv32.exe to reregister the directshow filters. They're usually registered during installation, but the this seems to fail on the occasional user's PC.

What are you talking about? Every shortcut I've created is there for a purpose. There is "GB-PVR" one for starting GB-PVR.
