Hi everyone

I'm a newbie here, so please be gentle...

I was wondering, has anyone had any success in using a GeCube Digital TV Walker with GB-PVR? This is a USB2 device, which Maplin are selling for £30 at the moment. I know cheap isn't usually good, but this looks to be some sort of ATI unit, I think.

Anyone got any thoughts on how I should start with getting this to work?

Thanks,

Philtr

If it's got BDA drivers, you can probably get it working with GB-PVR, but you'll need to add a new section to the bda.ini file for you device. You can get the correct names for your device using the GraphEdit utility (google for it).

Hi,

I've just succeeded in getting the GeCube Digital TV Walker working with GB-PVR (btw, I also got mine from Maplin).

Step1:
Edit the bda.ini file which can be found at C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr
You need to add the following text so that the GeCube appears in the capture card selection drop down during configuration:

[GeCube DVB-T BDA USB]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=M9207 BDA Digital Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=M9207 BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Step2:
Ensure the MVP app and drivers that came with the GeCube are installed as GB-PVR relies on some of the installed components. Connect Gecube to the USB port.

Step 3:
Open up GB-PVR config and add a capture source. Set the Recording source to BDA device and then hit the Settings button. If you tick the box "Only show devices detected in this machine" the device type should then show as GeCube DVB-T BDA USB. If not then either the driver didn't detect GeCube or you have a different version (unlikely if it came from Maplin). Set the country and region drop downs to All Countries/Regions. It will take longer to scan initially but you're more likely to detect all stations that way. Hit OK.

Step 4:
Click "Map Digital Channels to EPG channel" button. This will initiate the channel scan and compile a list of detected channels.

Hope that's of use

Regards
