Hello,

I am trying to change channels on an external tuner using the red eye serial device (and a command line utility) but the tuner "misses" some of the digits.

The problem seems to be a timing issue with the frequency of the commands sent to the red eye device. I have logged the commands that are sent (using a program called portmon) and they appear to be correct (i.e. I change to channel 105 and the string "105" is sent).

I have definitely had this working before with a previous incarnation of GBPVR so I can't figure out what I am doing wrong - has the frequqncy of the commands changed internally in GBPVR?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Martin.

No.

Remember when you're using a red eye serial, GB-PVR just runs an external executable and passes the required channel number as an argument (e.g. setchannel.exe 105). I dont pass digits individually or anything like that, so it must be something outside of GB-PVR.

I dont know what configuration options the red eye software gives you, but I'm sure thats where you need to do your tweaking.

I added a delay command before the channel string and it now works fine.

Thanks for your help.

P.S.
I've read that VBR encoding (from a PVR-350) isn't supported, is this a likely addition in the future?

CamelUK,

First download the "cmdline2.zip" utility (by Dave Court) from the red eye site (and unzip it).

Then in GBPVR config edit your capture source and choose ".exe changer plugin". Now click on settings and browse to the "REDEYE2.EXE" (contained in the above mentioned zip file).

Finally type the following to the parameters box (without the quotes)-
"-port=COM2 .{channel}"

Obviously you may need to change your com port number.
{channel} is where GBPVR inserts the channel number, the full stop before it signifies the delay.

As previously stated I had this working with no delay before so you may not need it at all.

P.S.
The redeye device operates both Sky digiboxes and NTL/Telewest cable tuners, you might have to download the "Reddemfull.zip" demo from the redeye site to set your changer to the correct mode (Sky/Cable).

Good luck,
Martin.

Thanks for the information, I have an old NTL PACE box at the moment, but this will be replaced with a new Samsung box, fortunately the RedEye can be switched between the two different communication modes
