Being this one of the latest, if not the latest Firmware on the MVP (Rev H), Is there anybody out there that has this Rev and has problems with Color saturation , similar to what has been reported on older Rev D firmwares ?

BTW, this is the one that has a "SPDIF" black port out, I guess for AC3 Digital SOund output.

I have 2 MVPS. The older one (Rev D3), is prefect. This new one I received last week is Rev H and the color is plain unwatchable. My TV has different adjustments for different inputs, but even when I make adjustments, the color is awful. Too much red. Not enough brightness.

I talked with Hauppauge tech support. They told me to take pictures and attach them so that they can see if they can send me another unit. Got a feeling I am out 90 bucks.

I also have a rev H1 unit which I got just a few weeks ago. I have been wondering about the colors as well. At times the picture does seem a bit dark and the reds a bit too saturated. I'll be interested how it goes with Hauppauge support

I have the same problem with my rev H.

It looks almost exactly like what you get when you try and record Macrovision protected vhs tapes. When i use it on my circa 1998 JVC crt its very dark, super color saturated and will jitter (loose vertical hold) on occasion when i have it hooked up with s-video cables. The same symptoms occur on composite output except for the jitter. Since I can store 'profiles' on my jvc for the color and brightness settings that has been my work-around. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

I have a H2 and I have the same "little bit" happening on mine, but heres the catch it only seems to be like that on one channel and the others seem fine. Unlike the other guy, with it being a bit dard and reds being oversaturated that channel is still very watchable. On a scale from 1-10 its probably like a 7 and a half.

To my surprise yesterday, I switched my MVPS and the Older revision MVP looks bad as well on the Mitsubishi Projection TV using both Svideo and Composite.

So it is not the H firmware. It is the TV.

My TV is an Mitsubishi HD80 "High Definition Ready" 62" projection TV.

Of course, I do not understand why the DVD player or the Dish Receiver look good using the same inputs.

May be there is some sort of "Video Receiver UpConverter" that will upconvert the 480p Svideo to 1020i which will look good on the TV.

True. It would be a good idea to compare qualities.

I tried taking a shot the other day and it really needs a very dark room in order to view it.

Let me try again tonight and I'll post them.

Have you tried a good shielded RCA cable?
The one that comes with the MVP is not a high quality cable.

I had the same problem with an MVP I bought during the Radio Shack clearance (not sure which rev.). The picture was very dark and the red was way over saturated. I messed with the colors and tried different cables without much success. I ended up returning it.
