No, although unless you wanted to play RMVB, I can't imagine of all the http streamers why you would choose myihome.

I can totally agree with this statement having installed my new nmt for the first time yesterday. The only thing that may be missing out of the dummies guide is & Martin can correct me if I'm wrong, having a fixed ip address for your server prior to doing the nmt install.

Jaggy you are correct. The Network Browser launch and CSI hard disk install don't need a fixed IP but it is recommended for NMT server based installs.
I did that also when I first fired up my nmt & it worked fine.....but.....I would also say the difference between using it like that & setting it up properly to run gb-pvr in pch2 mode is like night & day & well worth finding the time to do!
Playing from a share is important, especially if you want to play DVD's. Playing DVD's through the GBPVR interface is possible but that is one area that does take a bit of technical expertise to update scripts, so for many it is probably just as simple to use the standard player via a share. They cant be played with myihome either.
Playing files from a Share is about 20% less efficient then http so for the highest bit-rate files, GBPVR or myihome will be more better. For HD broadcasts that isn't going to be an issue.
