Posted at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/VideoArchive

From the release notes:

2006–05–13 :

* Updated to use .NET 2.0

* File list is now read and maintained in the database. The first time the plug-in starts it will scan your specified video and DVD directories to build a map of file locations. This will take lots of CPU cycles. After this it will work from this list rather than rescanning disks. This should make things much faster. As long as GBPVR is always running the plug-in will notice new files being added and maintain the list in the background. If you add files when GBPVR is not running or want to rescan the directory, press the Go (F11) key.

* Added support for different users with different access privileges. This was added based on user request. I have tested this some, but I do not use it myself so it may have issues. Users and privileges are defined in the config application. To switch users at run time, press the Pause (Control Q) key. For people creating their own skins, there is a new login dialog box skin required.

* The pending recordings screens are no longer limited to just text list view but can display icons etc just like the recordings and DVD lists.

* Added genre information as a displayable item in the detailed list views. See the bluemce2 “Preview View skin.xml” as an example.

* When files are archived, the GBPVR database is updated with the new file location so that other recordings plug-ins should continue to work even though the file has been moved.

* Added new utility Export VA Records.exe that can be used to created a vaexport.xml file that can be imported into GBPVR to allow previously archived recordings to be made visible to other recordings plug-ins.

* Screen size is now set based on the size of the background image rather than being hardcoded to 720x480

Does the new version support a user's migration to another database platform (SQLlight) or should I stay with the .mdb for now?

I haven't tested with SQLLite yet, but I have made the changes so that it should work. I will try to test it in the next few days just to be sure. If you can convery to SQLLIte and save a backup of your access database so that you can go back it wouldn;t hurt to try it yourself. It should be obvious pretty quickly if it doesn't work. A good test would be to go into the pending recordings screen (which does direct database access) and see what happens.

I've just loaded the new .NET version, and on the whole it seems fine, except for one group of programs, where the list shows 5 recordings, whereas there are 36 recordings. Recordings and Video Library list all the recordings. My recordings (not just for this group) are split across two disks, and all the other programs seem to have been scanned in fine. Any ideas?

Have you configured the plug-in to know about the other set of directories? You could also try pressing the GO button (F11) to force the plug-in to rescan for files. if you want to do so and attach you log and confog.xml files I can take a look.

Yep, it was all working about 30mins ago before I upgraded to .97. Other programs have picked up listing across both drives, just this one. Just tried F11, no luck, I'll zip up the logs and send shortly, thanks

EDIT: Had to go back to 0.96.12 since the 350 doesn't work. The old archive works fine too.

Jeff:

I've upgraded to the latest version of GBpvr, along with the new version of VA. It works well for me with one exception. When i watch, then delete a recording it still shows in the listings, even though i've deleted it. I have gone to the directory to confirm that it has in fact been deleted and it has been, it's just still showing in the VA lists as though it were not deleted.

Any Ideas? Right now it's a little hard to say if it's a GBpvr or VA problem, with the flurry of things happening, good and bad, Smile I'm guessing it's a VA problem as i've also looked at the Recordings plug in and the deleted recording does not show up there.

I will try to reproduce it here. If you see it happen again, can you zip up and post your archiver-MVP.log and ArchiveDB-MVP.log files if you initiated the delete from an MVP or your archiver-PC.log and ArchiveDB-PC.log if you were using a PC?

Thanks

Jeff:

Here are the logs you requested. I use the MVP exclusavly so they are the ones i included. I also noticed that if i shut down the MVP and Power it back up a few minutes later that the deleted recording does not show in the main list but does in the what's new portion. Not sure if that means anything or not but i figured the more clues the better.

One other thing, i don't know if it's releated or not but the "recording" indicator is very slow to come up on the VA panel. I had a recording start at 12:30pm, it's now 12:37 and the little red indicator still hasn't come up. When i notice this before it never did come up until i shut down the MVP and powered back up. Perhaps both are a problem with a MVP screen refresh?

At 12:41pm the indicator finally came up to show a recording in progress. Very weird Smile
