DVD & XDVD plugins..

Hi,

Im using gbpvr over an Hauppauge MVP. I have windvd 7 installed (though I installed it after gbpvr, if thats at all relevant)

Im a little confused.

Im trying to sort out watching DVD's (using the built in 'core' DVD plugin) and watching the raw VOB files using the XDVD plugin.

for some reason, i dont get a DVD button on screen, and xdvd plays the dvd disk - i though it was just supposed to play the iso or vob files.....

I have daemon tools installed and both are configured correctly in the config.

so essentially where is my dvd button - should i get one? - and how do i view iso files - i thought it was therough xdvd...

Hi.
The DVD button only appears on the local machine that has the DVD drive in it. As you are using an MVP the DVD button will not appear on the MVP screen and you will need XDVD.
I don't understand what you're describing with XDVD. XDVD will play unencrypted VOBs from hard disk folders, but will also play them directly from the DVD drive if you select that as a source folder ( although its a lot slower to start up)
I keep all my DVD backups as VOBs in hard disk folders and XDVD plays fine.

I have a physical DVD ROM drive, and a virtual Daemon drive.

With a physical dvd disk in the machine, XDVD sees it and cues it up automatically - I can select to play, or play title etc.

if i browse to a mounted ISO, it doesnt seem to do anyting apart from sit there and look at me.

so, questions:

you say I wont see the DVD button - ok great - thanks for clearing that up. In order to watch PHYSICAL dvd disks, I therefore use XDVD, right?

to watch a DVD ISO i ....do what?

to watch ripped VOB files, I use XDVD?

I also dont understand why xdvd will allow me to watch ripped vob files, but wont seem to play them when i browse to them on a mounted ISO...

it is possible im being a complete spanner here....

Yes.

I don't know if XDVD does this, I've always used it with VOBs.
