GBPVR crashes when I use the latest version of the video archive plugin. I cleared out all of the plugins and it works fine. Then I added ONLY VA and immediatley got a crash as soon as I added VA in config. It worked ok berfore I migrated the database if I remember correctly. Any ideas? I do not see anything in the logs but I am not sure where to look.
The error message says something like systemdata.oledbexception

Thanks for the quick reply Sub,

I did load that version. I even reloaded it to see if the installation was OK. I also made sure the check box for "use direct access for the Haupauge remote" is not checked.

That problem sounds exactly like what would happen if you are using the old version. It could be that the commongbpvrutilities.dll file was not updated. This can happen if the file is in use. You might try killing GBPVR, the recording service, and gbpvrtray and then reinstalling the VA plug-in. There will be a VAinstall.log file created during the installation that will tell you what files were updated and which were skipped. In fact, you could look at the one that is already there to see what it says before you do anything else.

VA on v 0.9.97 displays video size with 0 bytes. Can this be corrected on next release? Thanks.

Should I uninstall VA first?

GOT IT!!!
I uninstalled VA, Killed all GBPVR stuff, deleted commen utilities and reran the VA setup.

All seems to work without crashes , high CPU or any other fun. Thanks so much for the help. I thought you could just update over the old setup, but I guess you can't. Thanks again.

Yes, I've noticed this too. The reason it does this is that the VA plug-in monitors directories for new video files being created and it creates an entry for the file when it sees it being created. And, when the file is first created, its size is zero. What I need to do is set a timer to come back and reread the file size after the recording is done. It is on my to do list.

Jeff,

I noticed that the latest Video Archiver generates 3 or 4 DW20.EXE files that I see under Task Manager. These files soak up loads of RAM and bring my PC to a halt. These files are in addition to the GBPVR.exe servers files and they have only been generated under version 97.7.

Did I do something wrong during the install and is there something I can do to keep them from being generated?

I don't think these are from the va plugin. I don't start any processes with these names and I checked my machine at home and I don't have anything like that running.

I did a google seach and found the following:
Process ID (dw20.exe description): Application Error Reporting is a tool which collects (non-private) information when a certain Microsoft Office application crashes.
It then sends this information to Microsoft for further processing.
This helps fixing the bugs in those applications.
